Thanos must love Haase. He was exactly .500 at Stanford before this game, and at 8 other points throughout the season. Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.

The end of this season has been truly discouraging. I am hoping that Muir, who came to us billed as a basketball guy, has a close knowledge of what's going on. Although I think a coach deserves a few years with his own players, which Haase has not yet had, I also think he has to be making reasonable progress even if it is not reflected yet in the won/loss column. I expect Muir to be evaluating that. I also expect his assessment to be based on a lot more than what the casual fan (e.g. me) can know.

Games like yesterday make me want to retire to someplace quiet and just watch the sunset, too.

I'll give RJ kudos for being a consistent Haase apologist. He seems to firmly believe that the main reasons for the poor performances this year are injuries and inexperience. He's not wrong, but he completely downplays the lack of a real PG who doesn't turn the ball over 5 times a game (recruiting), poor FT shooting (development), and the results being substantially below the talent level of the individuals on the roster.
I appreciate much of RJs insights but he cuts the coach way too much slack.

Davis averages 3 turnovers a game
RJ spent years flying from LA to Stanford to watch basketball. I give him all the credit in the world for understanding the game.
I believe only a fool would come to Stanford to coach basketball without a 4-5 year contract so I’m sure we have at least another year with Haase.

What bothers me the most is that the team is fundamentally bad on offense and does not seem to be improving. Basic things like taking care of the ball and shooting 3s.
Turnover-assist ratio - 308th out of 351 teams in the country
Turnovers per game - 301st out of 351
3 point FG% - 301st out of 351
I really want to be a fan, but it's tough when year after year the offense cannot get it together. Fortunately, there is another basketball team on campus that is a lot more fun to watch.

According to Wilner's Hotline newsletter, that's not a basketball team, that's an Olympic sport team. But yes they ARE lots more fun to watch.
(Yes I know basketball is an Olympic sport, too, but the point is that Wilner considers men's basketball real basketball while everything else is subsumed under "Olympic Sport" as a footnote in his newsletter)

To enjoy women’s hoops you have to get over comparing them to men.

In games where he played at least 20 mins he average 4 TOs/game.
I give RJ lots of credit for understanding the game but he appears to have a soft spot for Haase that he did not have for Dawkins. He's made a lot of excuses for poor play and rarely acknowledges the glaring deficiencies this season.
Haase has a 5 year deal. So did Dawkins. Those things don't matter much. I doubt IdiotFace had only a two year deal for football. The schools buy out the remaining contract.
I know Haase will be here next season, much as I have lost faith in him after the way this team finished the season. I think he's lost the locker room. I just hope Muir has the guts to tell him that with or without KZ - and no other excuses - if the team isn't in the tournament next year he's gone.

I just turned on the TV and saw Robert Cartwright and his #1 seeded UC Irvine team win the Big West tournament championship game 92-64. Moving on from Stanford worked out well for him.

Ducks punched their ticket to the big dance with a 20 point win over UW. Boy, the Pac-12 sucks in mens' basketball.

And with that the Pac-12 is saved the indignity of being a one bid conference.

Yes, good for him indeed. And sad that the only way our red-shirt seniors Travis and Cartwright got to experience the Tournament was as grad transfers at other schools.

Plus my choice for Stanford coach Russell Turner
He coached for Monty and has done well as the Head Coach with UC Irvine
