Stowers late 2nd round to the orioles

Congrats

Oakland's first round pick, SS Logan Davidson of Clemson, has a Stanford connection. His sister, Taylor, was a star tennis player at Stanford.

RE: MLB Draft - Phogge - 06-04-2019

Hey Bobbbbbbb, haven’t been picked yet but I have had six San Miguel Darks.

RE: MLB Draft - BobK - 06-04-2019

I’m drinking Stone IPA waiting for the call.

Miller to the Phillies 4th round
Little to the Dodgers 5th round

RE: MLB Draft - BobK - 06-04-2019

Handley the first pick in the 6th round to the Orioles

Matthiessen 6th round to the Pirates as a pitcher

RE: MLB Draft - Treefence - 06-04-2019

Any idea if any of the drafted guys stay?  I'm not sure whats usual, but I'm definitely hoping Handley stays another year.

RE: MLB Draft - BobK - 06-04-2019

Think Bryce Love regarding Handley. But I’m surprised how high he went.
The others no chance they return unless a physical problem discovered

Into the 10th round no Daschbach which amazes me

Good news I haven’t seen any of our signees drafted.

Or do we want them drafted (i.e., pretty darned good) but coming to Stanford anyway (e.g. John Mayberry)?

I could be wrong on this but a lot of times teams won't draft a very talented High School player as highly if they believe its likely they won't sign and will go to college.  I believe They also won't offer as much money to entice the players to skip college.

RE: MLB Draft - BobK - 06-04-2019

Every situation is different but you’re surely correct in most cases.

Normally drafted in the first about 10 rounds means one will sign. Several years ago they moved the sign or return date to mid July so neither fans nor coaches have long to wait

Btw I forgot about the pitcher who signed with Stanford then a pro contract
Mercado? 2 years ago

Should have come to Stanford

RE: MLB Draft - BobK - 06-05-2019

Big Bad in the 17th round
