Here's the time hack to Folkl fouling out:

When even the announcer is saying that's not a foul...

Apropos nothing, Folkl was one of the nicest, most gracious, humble, and earnest people that I met at Stanford.

Note that Wideman does get clipped as she moves out of the way of the oncoming defender, and it did force her to shoot without her hips being square to the basket, but it's a stretch to say that she was "flattened".  Though the contact likely affected her shot,  it's something most refs won't call.

painful to watch, but thank you for posting.

That was my first thought, too.

Thanks for the link to the video. I never saw that, and I never saw any video after the game. I just remember sitting there and thinking, what!!!!! This one is definitely my number 1 bad call in all the games I've seen.

But let me mention another one that went the other way -- I don't remember all the detail, but in the 1992 semi-final against Virginia, in the closing seconds of the game, there was a questionable call that went Stanford's way. I still have a vivid memory of Dawn Staley running up and down the sidelines, appealing to the refs, waving her arms, protesting. No joy for her, and Stanford went on to the finals the next day (yep, guys, the next day, literally. That was the way it was in 1992.)
