Up 27-7 in the third quarter the Niners fall to Tobin Rote and Tom “The Bomb” Tracy. I was there loading mags for my father.

The Niners' 1981 Championship was such a giant deal largely because it was the first major sports title won by a San Francisco sports franchise. Lots of 49ers and Giants disappointments before then.

That reminds me, back in the early 1990's I got a cup from somewhere listing all of the Bay Area sports teams:
1990 Super Bowl Champion SF 49ers!
1989 World Series Champion Oakland A's!
1989 National League Champion SF Giants!
The Golden State Warriors!
How times have changed.

Al Attles running out on the floor when Washington's SG Mike Riordan tried to pick a fight with the Warriors' only star, Rick Barry so Barry would get kicked out. Attles prevented Barry getting kicked out by getting kicked out himself. See the 3:00 mark:

Gene Brown subbing for the ineligible KC Jones and and guarding Carl Cain and along with Russ, Boldt, Farmer and Hal Perry taking out Iowa to win the NC for USF in 1956. Two in a row for the first San Francisco championships. Next were the Bay Bombers in 1959 and then the Warriors.

Rick Barry’s bullet pass off of a jump shot look to George “Newpie” Johnson for a layup to put Warriors ahead against the Bulls in game 7 of the Western Conference finals. Johnson had notoriously bad hands (terrific shot blocker). But he caught that one.
I believe the ‘75 Warrior Championship team is the most underrated and under appreciated champion of the last 50 years.

Thanks Mick. Great memories. I was at Game 3 at the Cow Palace. Loudest sporting event I’ve ever been to. After the 3d quarter the fans stood and cheered until they statprted the fourth. It just got louder and louder. I also went to greet them at the airport. That was such an unexpected year. They were picked to finish last after the trade of Nate.
