There is a lot of Leach resentment among Stanford fans, Phogge. Though he is a super intelligent guy, he's not an intellectual's intellectual. His teams have also recently made Stanford's look silly. Stanford should rarely lose to Washington State based on the players recruited, but here we are.

Your sack stats render the "KJ will get beat up playing for Leach" arguments weak, so then it's "let's attack the system" because we don't like it, even though it has beaten us for 4 years straight.

The reality is NFL people know Costello can run a pro style offense. If he puts up big numbers and looks good throwing the ball at Mississippi State, he will get the benefit of the doubt from NFL people that no previous Leach QBs have had. This is what makes Costello playing for Leach so intriguing, IMO.

I’m way too stupid and have far too much common sense to be tarred as an intellectual. But I can’t stand Leach because he’s a flipping asshole. I hope he gets trashed in the SEC.

As for the sack stats, that does not include the times he gets hit during a game. So it doesn’t render the argument meaningless particularly where he’s going to a conference that has slightly better defenses than the Pac-12. To say the least. Frankly I think the way the better defenses in that conference will deal with the air raid is just simply beat the snot out of the quarterback every chance they get. Given that athletically many of those teams have the linebackers and corners/safeties that can man up on the receivers and still get to the quarterback with their fronts, I expect it to be an epic fail. I will also admit that’s my own bias. I hate the offense to say the least.

As for beating Stanford – frankly it was more because Washington State’s defense the last several years gave Stanford fits. EDIT- I’m prob wrong on this. It was generally a total beat down.

That's a great line.  I can relate.  You should make that your signature on this board.

Leach gets the ball out quickly Lex. Stanford hasn't really touched a Cougar QB since the rain game in Seattle. Costello will be protected.

Actually of our four losses to the Cougs over the last four years only two were beat downs. Two were close games. I do agree that in general the offense and the defense share joint responsibility for the losses.

Time will tell.  We disagree on The Pirate. I wish for his ship to be sunk.

while I am not a fan (although I certainly appreciate his offense), I hope Leach succeeds in StarkVegas.  if he does so, that means he'll be a thorn in the side of Alabama, LSU etc.
