Formal practice I m pretty sure not yet. Practice yes but limited. Our Aussie is here now. In another tread a poster said where they are staying in a new dorm or whatever
I’m look for you. Sometime Soon we hope. I thought Section 5. Got it now
Keep watch on TOS for news. Just not soon maybe in a week. :)

Am I correct that the roster will only have 4 forwards with Dodson's departure - Belibi, Jerome, Prechtel and Brink? Reinforcements on the way with Demetre and Iriafen next year, but they won't help this season (assuming there is one).
RE: WBB: Dodson -

Well three post one forward and a number of wings like Lexi a very good rebounder
And. Agnes who was compared to Carrington by a Stanford coach

For a couple of years now we've been having a Cardboard halftime get-together, gathering on the SE end of the court on the walkway above lower area 7. That was because I'm in 11 and Bob is in 4, I guess. But I have a hard time thinking that we will be back in Maples anytime soon, even if the season really comes off.

In addition to the 4 above, Emma-Nnopu (Aussie) used to be a post player who is now learning how to be a wing. And we've already established that Jones is versatile enough to play any position from 1-4. Yes we are now down to 13 players, but we are a deep team and any one of the 13 players could contribute in a meaningful way in a given game. I still think Tara has more talent than playing minutes available.
Let's look at a potential rotation:
Starters:
PG - Williams
SG - Lexie
SF - Jones
PF - Belibi
C - Prechtel
Meaningful Bench Minutes:
PG - Brown
SG - Jump, Wilson
SF - Lacie
PF - Jerome
C - Brink
Talented Frosh Who Might Play Their Way to More Time:
PG - Van Gytenbeek
SF - Emma-Nnopu
In this scenario you have the following players as backups:
- #3 ranked player in the class of 2020 (Brink)
- Potentially the best Stanford 3-pt shooter ever (Jump)
- Good 3-pt shooter and very good defender (Lacie)
- Super experienced and maybe putting it all together in her 5th-year (Wilson)

Great post. Agree with the Pretchel abd Belibi positions on D but reverse on O

Understandable, but she will be missed. Sad that we didn't get to give her a proper sendoff, either.
If only that #@@# pandemic office hadn't been eliminated...
I don't like Stanford losing any athletes - want them all to be content with their decision to play for and attend Stanford. I also think it helpful to have a roster of players with varying strengths/attributes, including toughness. Dodson brought this. I also thought Carrington was very tough (along with being a great overall player).
The absence of any mention of the coaching staff in her statement - especially when contrasted with the comments about teammates - gives me pause. Maybe Dodson's departure has absolutely zero to do with the staff . . . but I still think Carrington got sideways with Tara & Co. and if Dodson did, too . . . well . . . pause.
I admit this is all speculation from a STH. But, there it is.
Half the coaching staff just turned over, so if there was a problem last season it would have to be with Tara or Kate Paye, neither of whom is going anywhere
Given the depth, is it possible that Tara told her she'd be playing backup this season?

Anyone trying to read between the lines to discern the thinking of Maya Dodson as she made her decision should read this piece.

I don't think it provides a clear answer. But you can gauge her mindset. It may be the case that other things are more important to her now than basketball.

Thanks for posting I was about to. Yes as I was saying more important things in Mz Dodson’s life
Excellent article

You're right. It
may be . . . It's rather interesting that only Bob is speaking with supposed certainty here - I've presented my "pause" as speculative (though not without some basis).

Not the first Stanford athlete to give up a sport for things of great importance socially. I believe that football running back Nate Kirtman (same class as Gene Washington, George Buehler, Malcom Sinder and others) gave up football to focus on social/political issues of the day (mid to late 1960's), though I think he got knock-out in one game which may have been the primary reason for giving up the sport. I think Kirtman was the high school player of the year in San Francisco his senior year beating out a guy who went to SFCC and then usc.

It's consistent with the banner in her twitter account. It is clear that the movement matters a lot to her. That is not necessarily inconsistent with continuing to play basketball, but one could imagine that, for her, the movement matters more than basketball.

You’re correct about Kirtman. OJ was All City But Nate was POY. His school Washington won the title. They had to go through Holmgren and Lincoln.

Thank you for sharing. Wow! That was an inspiring article and agree, it gives a much clearer sense of what is on her mind and heart than her tweet. I respect her decision. It could not be easy to miss her senior season with a team that could be in the Final Four. There are much bigger things going on - particularly over the next 41 days. P
roud of our Stanford athletes and glad to learn about Tara's engagement.
