RE: Todd Husak - bl82 - 11-02-2020

From Todd's Twitter feed, it sure doesn't sound as if he's done with announcing...
Ted Robinson: Todd is too smart to miss many fall Saturdays. Some entity will be wise enough to grab this free agent.
Platz: Going forward, whether tv, coaching, QB school...his significant football acumen will continue to be on display.

(Nothing from Scott Reiss yet...)

Contrary to what some  on this thread believe, Occam points to the "not welcomed back" scenario . . . which leads to the question, why?
I think his candid nature is as good a bet as any, and until someone else establishes otherwise, that's my story, and I'm sticking with it!!

So money is not a factor?

Is that supposed to be a comment on Shaw or the AD?

RE: Todd Husak - BostonCard - 11-03-2020

Do you really think Shaw is recording the commentary and listening to it after the fact to see if it is critical of him?  I mean, I get that he can be prickly, but that would take it to a whole new level of thin-skinnedness, one that you and teejers seem to have assumed in.

Shaw is busy doing other things during the broadcast, and generally doesn't get to see it. He doesn't like to get challenged directly (I mean, who does), but he is not keeping track of what is said or written and compiling some sort of enemies list. He and Husak had a cordial relationship, and I have seen no evidence that Shaw tried to get Husak pushed out.  If you have any, please share.

IF Husak was pushed out for that reason (and the "that's my story and I'm sticking with it" blast was attempt at some humor in uncertain situation), then does it matter if it was Shaw or Muir or anyone in the Athletic Department in particular?  Regardless, it's flat lame, think-skinned, and chicken$hittish, no matter the source of the complaining.

And ftr, it would not surprise me if Husak's candor ruffled feathers and was the driving force of his removal; and it would not surprise me if Shaw were the source (or some other coach or staff person fronting for Shaw when complaining to the AD).  It also would not surprise me if it were someone other than Shaw - maybe a big donor who only wants positive things said about the program; maybe vociferous Shaw defenders who ran to the AD and complained about unfair treatment of Shaw.  Who knows?

RE: Todd Husak - troyc - 11-03-2020

This seems like a good time for a reminder that Todd chose to cut his broadcast schedule back last year, missing the UCF & OSU road trips. (emphasis on "chose to")

As for this year, I don't know all the particulars. But I suspect there aren't many particulars to know here, and that some of you are reading way, way too much into this.

I hope you're right, but Shaw and Muir aren't exactly known for taking criticism well, and Husak has been one of if not the most vocal critics of Shaw.

Was about to say the same thing.  There's a little how-dare-he factor going on here, I suspect.  Too bad.  I really enjoyed Husak's work.

Article in The Athletic on Husak

https://theathletic.com/2181820/2020/11/06/media-column-todd-husak-out-at-stanford-wants-to-keep-broadcasting/

Article positively talks about Husak, Flemming, Harbaugh among others.  Not so much Harris.

It wonders if critical commentary was the cause of release.
