Second quarter we scored 13 to their 10. Big drop off from the first. Prechtel is having a tough time finishing under the hoop. We play much of the 2nd Q with two bigs on the floor. It did hold UW to 10, but it think it hurt our offense.

Our defense stayed very good in the second quarter. Our offense did not stay at the same level--understandable with all the substitutions. But lots of players are getting experience.
Jones has not come back into the game after banging her knee. Not sure what to make of that. We don't need her, so perhaps we are just being cautious. Will be interesting to see if she plays in the second half.

Haley out on the court

The quarter ended better than it started, and we wound up outscoring UW 20-17. We lead 61-36, which though down from our 29 point lead, is still substantial. We could probably get away with not scoring at all in the fourth quarter and still win.

Had me worried when we scored 5 in the first 5 minutes of 3Q. The next 5 minutes yielded 15. Breathing easier again.

It does seem that after that awesome 1st quarter we have been drifting, doing enough, but there is no Geno appetite to score 100 against what may be the weakest team we will play this year. Three walk-ons for Washington on the floor at the same time.

In a mirror image of the second quarter, we started out only scoring 5 points to open the second half, but turned on the offense and scored 15 points to have a very respectable twenty for the 3rd quarter and take a 61-36 lead heading into the final ten minutes.
Unfortunately, UW also picked up the offense and managed 17 points of their own.
Thanks to that offensive spurt at the end of the quarter, we now have 3 players in double digits led by Jump's 15 points with 6 of those points coming from inside the arc, showing her more varied offensive arsenal this year.
Perhaps more importantly, Haley played the majority, if not all of the 3rd quarter and from my vantage point, did not show any ill effects from the injury earlier in the game.

Final is 74-48. Great first quarter, and then things slowed down.

She had 3 fouls, so Tara probably skipped her on the rotation.

We won 74-48, I'll leave it to others to write a more detailed analysis, but in an era of chaos, this was a standard victory over an overmatched opponent.
At times, it looked like we would win by 40-50 points, but periods of patchy play, where even though the outcome was probably never undecided, made it a bit more frustrating to watch. Again, it didn't matter in this game and we still won by a good amount, but it would be nice to even out the bumps a bit more.
I don't have the statistics to back this up and I doubt there's an official tally, but we seem to miss the wide open shots a little more than we should. It seems we make the tougher shots on a more consistent basis, and although we will hit the wide open shot, we don't do it with as much regularity as you would expect.

I didn't like seeing Jump miss several wide open 3s at the end of the game. She is usually nails on those. Maybe she shoots better under pressure.

Game got sloppy and overmatched UW played hard. To me this game is one to just not even think about too hard. Third game in 5 days, easy blowout, and I'm sure the team had half a mind on finally getting to go home. The announcer said that the team was struggling to practice, often using high school gyms with only two baskets so they could not get shots up as normal, could not practice as normal, which probably explains some of the continued sloppiness we have seen. I hope getting back home helps them overcome all that. They are behind where they want to be I'm sure. Jones is ok, that's the biggest takeaway.
