Still experiencing scoring droughts

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Colorado ON NOW PAC-12 - martyup - 02-05-2021

Buffs are shooting 21%/11%.  That's shut down D.

49-26 after 3.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Colorado ON NOW PAC-12 - TheFarm07 - 02-05-2021

We lead 49-26 after three quarters. It was very ugly to watch as we continued to be stymied by the Colorado defense. If not for a late scoring spurt, we would have been held to single digits.

Fortunately, Colorado's offense is even colder than ours and we managed to outscore them by 1 point for the quarter despite our own atrocious offense.

This quarter is not giving me any confidence on the offensive end; our shots aren't falling.

Side note: our end of quarter/half offense still is laughably frustrating. Kiana dribbled into traffic with a few seconds left.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Colorado ON NOW PAC-12 - mbdude - 02-05-2021

Y, our offense isn't exactly impressive. 3 pts this quarter

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Colorado ON NOW PAC-12 - martyup - 02-05-2021

We've scored 15 points and 1.5 quarters.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Colorado ON NOW PAC-12 - TheFarm07 - 02-05-2021

This is so sad...even if we win, we are not exactly inspiring any confidence

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Colorado ON NOW PAC-12 - martyup - 02-05-2021

We've been outscored 13-3 in the 4th.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Colorado ON NOW PAC-12 - mbdude - 02-05-2021

We have a big height advantage and everything is a jump shot

And we can't handle a press
William's got a break twice

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Colorado ON NOW PAC-12 - martyup - 02-05-2021

I think our players just got bored and stopped focusing on the game.  Maybe they will learn from this so the next time they have a 25 point lead they won't take their foot off the neck of their opponent.

Don't bet on us winning by a large margin. Our program lacks the killer instinct to romp opponents. It is painful to watch second halves against opponents we shoiuld beat by 30-40 points. Instead of extending leads, we make them shrink (most of them not as bad as tonight though).

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Colorado ON NOW PAC-12 - BostonCard - 02-05-2021

Colorado scored 26 points in the first three quarters; they scored 28 in the fourth (with time almost out).  We scored 25 in the entire second half, so... ouch.

The good news is that 37-17 at the half, so even a pretty crappy second half meant we wound up winning by 8.

We win 62-54 but I feel like we did not deserve to win (and we almost did not). After being up by as much as 25 points, the fourth quarter was an utter collapse and was so bad to watch, it was funny.

Our offense just disappeared, we made ONE field goal in the entire fourth quarter, is that the look of a championship ballclub, especially considering the name on our opponents' jerseys read Colorado and not UConn or Baylor? Luckily our FT shooting held up or else the Buffaloes would have handed us a very embarrassing loss.

Who would have guessed that the L. Hull with 10 points and 7 rebounds and 3 assists was Lacie, and the one who went 0/4 with 4 rebounds and 4 fouls was Lexie.  Pretty forgettable night for Lexie.  Prechtel and Belibi had 4 points between them.

On the plus side, aside from Lacie, Kiana had 16 (but went 2/9 from 3), Brink went 3/4 and was a perfect (7/7) from the line for 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 blocks, and Williams had 11 points and 4 steals.

All in all, not pretty, and downright ugly in the second half.

0 pts for Lexie; Jones scores 1st 2 baskets of game, then nothing
we need a better press break, we couldn't pass thru it, we don't have the ball handlers to dribble thru it.   watching Kiana try to dribble thu it was scary

RE: WBB: Stanford 62 Colorado 54 - Spiny_Norman - 02-05-2021

Colorado's zone completely changed the game. Stanford was not able to get the ball inside the zone, so they kept settling for 3 pointers which they did not make. Stanford was only 5-24 in the 2nd half.

RE: WBB: Stanford 62 Colorado 54 - martyup - 02-05-2021

As the second half unfolded, we stopped trying to get the ball into the paint.  We just started chucking up 3s and missing them.  There was no sense of urgency from Tara or the players.  I actually saw Jones yawing on the bench.  We just let the Buffs back into the game.  I was so stoked at halftime because we were throttling the team that knocked us out of the #1 spot.  Then we just stopped competing.  I don't know why Tara didn't react to the turnaround.  She let the Buffs go on a 17-0 run without calling a timeout.  Was she teaching them a lesson?  Was she asleep at the wheel like her team?  I dunno.  I don't like it.

Hats off to Lacie.  She had 10 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal.

Brink had another solid game with 13 points, 8 rebounds, 6 blocked shots, and 1 steal.

RE: WBB: Stanford 62 Colorado 54 - Softball Fan - 02-05-2021

When the announcer made a big deal about Lexie being a 88% free throw shooter, I expected her to miss a free throw.  She missed both free throws.
