I was at the TCU game (where Tavita was mediocre).  The weather was just fine during the game.  The QB play was not.  And if not for Baldwin, the final score would have been ugly.  I remember thinking:  "if Luck wasn't inserted in this game, when will he be?"  I'm pretty sure the family decided to RS after this game - in other words, Luck should have been in play that day.

I too was at the TCU game. The QB play wasn't good because the TCU line was in the backfield as much as Tavita was. I remember several passes going basically straight up in the air because he was hit as he threw. Luck didn't play because they wanted him to survive. It was a bad team having a bad day. Not a place for Luck to start his career. If he had been inserted in that game, he would have spent the day running for his life, just as did Tavita.  Sherman also scored by returning a blocked punt, so he should get about the same credit as Baldwin. The leading receiver for Stanford was Toby. No time to throw downfield.



The idea Luck was going to play was fed by the fact he did get up and "warm up" on the sidelines. Probably a precaution if Tavita actually did get killed/injured, or maybe he was just cold. The rain had stopped, but it was still cold and wet.
