It's tough to win on the road. We lose to them in basically a road game (they chose to take their home game in the series in Dallas).
And now losing on the road to Ok State (although the lead is now 31-20).
And the senior QB that played against us got hurt, so it is two inexperienced guys now playing at QB.

NC State just beat Clemson in OT. Second loss for Clemson this season.
BC
A week after pasting Texas, Arkansas upset #7 Texas A&M.
BC
Georgia Tech crushed #22 UNC, who also now has two losses. ACC looks to be a mess this year.
Also, Nebraska came oh so close to upsetting Michigan State, but lost 23-20 in OT.

Beavs piling it on now. They have a real OL and running game and a decent looking QB.
Trojans are a program in disarray. They went apoplectic when they lost to Stanford, if they get rolled by OSU, who hasn't won in the Coliseum since the Eisenhower administration, people will be jumping off of buildings.

Probably not safe to pencil in a win against Oregon St. 283 yards of rushing… I shudder to think what they will do to our DL.

OSU wins. 296 yards on the ground (I remember fondly when we used to do that to teams). Which means that the three teams we played to date went a combined 0-3, a couple of them beat downs.

Yeah, if Helton hadn't been fired after our game he would have been after this one.
Agree that the OSU game now looks like a tough one.
This also makes our victory look less impressive.

Yeah not sure exactly what has happened to the Condoms. Part of the problem is the top West Coast recruits are either heading east or to Eugene, as opposed to U$C like they used to.

Only 4 of the PAC-12 have overall winning records now — UO, OSU, UCLA, and ASU.
Stanford is in the next group of 4 with .500 records.

In the most recent recruiting cycle (class of 2021) USC signed four of the top eight recruits in California (#1, #3, #6 and #8), including the top ranked DL (#2 overall player in the entire country), #1 LB, #1 DB and #2 QB (Miller Moss, one spot behind Tyler Buchner). The other four signed with Oregon, Texas, Notre Dame, and Utah. This with the uncertainty of who the head coach would be given that Helton was clearly on his last legs as his buyout decreased, and coming off an 18-13 cumulative record in the last three years. In fact, USC signed nine of the top 19 recruits in California.
I wouldn't underestimate USC's ability to once again dominate west coast recruiting once a real coach is in place with a stable recruiting-focused staff.

DC86, that may depend on whether they retain their lead recruiter, Donte Williams.

That is going to be difficult I expect. The new guy isn't going to want the "interim" looking over his shoulder, and the "interim" isn't going to take kindly to being rejected as permanent.

Hard to say what will happen with Williams, but USC has historically had many outstanding recruiters and dominant classes prior to his arrival, it's not a difficult assignment as long as coaches are energetic and committed to it. The problem was that Helton's staff was full of indifferent recruiters, most notably Clancy Pendergast and Neil Callaway, and Helton himself wasn't particularly invested. You can bet that someone like James Franklin and his crew would be very successful on the recruiting front with or without Williams.

Unfortunately, it does demonstrate how far we are behind the top teams in the country.
Thanks for putting into crisp language the precise reason my enthusiasm for the current regime has flat-lined. Until I see significant and positive change, I will remain a disinterested (not to be confused with "uninterested") observer.

Gail, you don't understand, Shaw is not just a good coach . . . he's a great coach. Ask everyone he . . . most everyone . . . well, some of the folks here still believe that. But really, the Shaw "debate" is so passe - he's not going anywhere anytime soon. The more pressing concern, as I see it, is McKee. That guy is eligible to bolt after THIS season, and that would be catastrophic to the program.
I'm really hoping McKee has sufficient interest in Stanford University (including a degree) to stick around.
Not sure the football draw part of it will be that great, though the OL should improve . . . shouldn't it? And hopefully the team can build some second-half season momentum with several Ws (the next 2 games look pretty tough).

I agree, Teejers. If McKee leaves after this year (and as you point out, he is eligible, and Mills is a starting rookie quarterback with less of a college track record than McKee will have by the end of the year, barring a disastrous injury), next year is going to be a very long year for us. I don't profess to know what is going through McKee's mind; selfishly, I hope he stays, but I recognize he doesn't owe me anything.
