You are one of the highest-paid head coaches in America because you are an elite recruiter, talent scout, game strategist and game-day tactician, orchestrate a staff of nationally renowned assistants and remain a fierce enemy of incipient complacency anywhere in your program. Unless, of course, you happen to be the head coach at Stanford.

Well, if nothing else, he was recognized as the heart of a champion.

Watching the line is painful.  The left side is particularly bad.  They get beat off the ball.  No push.  They aren’t physical.  They can’t block in space.

It is the worst line I’ve seen since the bad old days.  Either that changes. Or the program dives  into the abyss.

The loss of Dalman is big. He was 1st Team All P12 in 2020.  A number of the guys on this year's OL played last year and with pretty good results. Not having Dalman's leadership and ability to make the right line calls has to be a factor.
I think that an interestingly parallel is the year that Whitfield left early.  Top flight O-line play.  Whitfield left, horrible O-line play until the coach moved... Chris Dalman to left tackle.  That one move was so important.
