I've heard a rumor of flu... That might explain Lougeay's absence, but if they were sick, I don't believe Kipp and Miner would be on the sideline.

Maybe they just got over a 24 hour bug? Not contagious anymore, but feeling too exhausted to play...?

That may have been the worst played match in the PAC-12 this season.
I shouldn't post when I'm so frustrated. In the next two seasons I don't see Stanford making the final four with Baird as a six rotation player. Her passing will not stand up to the serving of better teams. Her passing might improve a little over the next two years but something in her technique will have to change dramatically.

The Cardinal losing in straight sets to the Wildcats, 19- 14- 23-, without their starting setter (MINER), their most
lethal hitter (KIPP) and their primary DS (LOUGEAY), then losing their secondary setter (XU) mid-way thru the 2nd set.
And with so many unknowns to be settled in 24 waking hours before the ASU match, Stanford will most likely
leave the desert 7-5 conference, 12-8 overall. There goes an NCAA seed so, for now, let's just be content
with them making the NCAA tournament, then making some serious noise as they take it one match at a time....
In a way, I will enjoy watching Stanford more from this point onward, without the pressure and expectation
of them winning every match.
Last week's RPI Futures (conference 13-7 and overall 18-10) is now making more sense to me. I just didn't realize
that it can predict absences of major players in future matches, hahaha!

Go Stanford referred to injuries for the three

"The Cardinal (12-7, 7-4 Pac-12) played without starting setter
Kami Miner, starting opposite
Kendall Kipp and starting defensive specialist
Alex Lougeay, who all missed the match
due to injury."
It's hard to believe three players all got injured in practice during one week. I don't recall that happening before. It's just a coincidence there have been a rash of injuries during Hambly's tenure. I believe all of these injuries with one exception happened in practice; not during matches.
Off the top of my head for the spring and fall:
Miner, Kipp, and Lougeay now injured.
Xu with recurring injury to ankle and knee.
Fidelak out with unknown injury.
A. Smith out with fingers injured.
Francis out for a month with unknown injury.
Oglivie out for several matches with possible concussion.
L. Smith out in spring with knee injury and recurring knee injury in fall.
Campbell out in spring recovering from knee injury.
Lougeay out all of spring with injury.
Kipp out last half of spring with knee injury.

Fidalak shoulder surgery pre season but won’t play so she can grad Transfer and play healthy
I think you’re right all except one in practice or not in games
Francis wasn’t injured. Not Covid either but illness

On VT someone said Miner is in concussion protocol.
RE: WVB: #15 Stanford @UA (10/29), @ASU (10/31) - Softball Fan - 10-30-2021
I can see Stanford losing all of the matches Miner is out on concussion protocol. If Kalissa Greene (#22 senior ace) had stuck it out she would have probably gotten playing time. Either her or Malia Tufuga would be setting.

I can imagine concussion protocol or minor injuries (ankle tweak). I didn't notice anything about the players that suggested any injuries (casts, boots, crutches, etc.) so I hope these are all minor.
At some point before a broadcast, an announcer talks to a coach by phone to prepare. Apparently at that point, nothing was brought up about any of the three. The announcer indicated he found out when he went over to say Hi to the coach about an hour before the game.
Like the infamous WBB game, the team clearly wasn't prepared to play with this line-up (or substitution pattern). Too many cases of players not knowing who was to get the ball. Then, to make up for it, they were trying too hard and so making mistakes. A real disaster of a match. Worse, I'm not sure they learned a whole lot from the match. I honestly expected them to adjust and come together better, but it seemed they fell apart more as the match went on, but I guess that's because Xu wasn't in there.
(And, whoever compared the announcer to Walton was exactly right. Same motor mouth, same kind of personal focus, same everything. but less knowledge about the sport. I imagine being a solo announcer is tough. I have to say he was trying.... And, for me, he was very trying. I kept muting the TV. Obviously, the first (successful) challenge was about the ball hitting the net, not the Stanford players. I couldn't see why the call stood on that last challenge when the ball was a foot over the player's hands.)

I wonder if we will see Elia Rubin play a Meghan McClure type OH role next year to stabilize serve receive and passing. Both are quick, slightly smaller OHs who are versatile and good passers. But this would mean moving Francis to MB (is Campbell coming back?). I know Francis has played MB, but which is her better position -- OH or MB?
Or possibly use Rubin as a sub when Francis or Baird rotates to the back row?

Wow! That's really a big blow, even might endanger Stanford's bid to be in the NCAA tourney if MINER misses several matches.
They are now 7-4 in-conference/12-7 overall, then will most likely lose the next 3 matches @ #29 ASU then vs. #22 WSU and #8 UW
at home, which translates to 7-7 in-conference/12-10 overall after next weekend. Yikes!

If She’s in the concussion protocol, she’ll be out at least a week, which means she will be out against ASU but could be back after. But that’s only if she doesn’t have any post-concussive symptoms.

Stanford got off to a good start and is now fading against ASU. ASU's first six points included four Stanford serving errors and the Stanford serves were lollipops IMO. I've totally supported Hambly except his philosophy that players don't have to worry about missing serves.
As expected ASU has pulled ahead in set 1.

This ASU broadcast is the absolute worst ever. These idiots don't ever tell the viewers the score and the score is not shown on the screen. Therefore, the viewer has no idea of the score. Their voices are also very shrill and they are total ASU homers. What a schitt show.

After the first couple of rallys Hambly saw the light that Berty is pretty much useless in the front row. Oglivie playing OH and Beaven is wearing the libero jersey.

7 service errors by our team in the first set. That has nothing to do with missing players to injury or sickness. Just poor play.
3 set points for Stanford. Now 2.
Now 1.
First set goes to Stanford 25-22.

Stanford using the rope-a-dope strategy this weekend. Stanford made itself look so bad on Friday ASU thought they could walk out on the court and win just by showing up. If I was betting man, I would still bet on ASU at this point. But who knows?

Stanford survives 1st set, 25-22.
So many service giveaways by Stanford, as in 7 SE and only in the first set.
Obviously, Malia is still struggling in her connection with the middles, and even with FRANCIS.
But, OGLIVIE at OH, what a revelation! 5-0-7, hitting .714.
