Any schedule is going to be tough to navigate next season. Any news on coaching changes?

The USC game is just a September thing now.
I do like that BYU is last, as that will mean the final conference game is Big Game.

The schedule does illustrate why the Pac-12 lacks CFP representation.
Only one game looks like an easy W, Colgate.

Even the absolute worst teams in the SEC will still have 3 OOC sure thing home Ws on their schedule.

That then enables the conference to have loads of undefeated and one loss teams battling each other in high profile conference games in October, and likely two or more undefeated or one loss teams left for the SEC CG.

Many other Pac-12 teams schedule only cupcakes. This is not a reason the Pac-12 doesn't make the playoffs.

This.  The PAC-12 doesn’t make the playoffs because it’s become a conference full of slightly below average to slightly above average teams.  Not easy to navigate.  But also no great teams.  Not in a while at least.

Per the Pac-12 announcement, which gave a conference-wide perspective:
Quote:The schedule includes one Thursday matchup (in the season opener) and six Friday matchups, including the league’s title game.  Additional games may be selected by our television partners to be moved to Thursday or Friday.

I hadn't realized that Oregon plays Georgia in their first game. Makes the Lanning hire a bit spicier (he's been Georgia's DC).

Somewhat amazingly, at least to me, Lanning supposedly will coach Georgia in the CFP: https://www.ajc.com/sports/georgia-bulldogs/dan-lanning-to-remain-with-georgia-through-college-football-playoffs/NEH7WRPZWREBFFZ3FBROUBTYKY/

I do wonder if this issue was the thing that caused the false start in the hiring process. Everything may have been agreed with Oregon and their new coach, and then the issue of coaching the CFP games became a glitch that had to be resolved with Georgia before his hiring could be announced.

It was reported in a few places that the delay at the end was because Lanning wanted to coach Georgia through the playoff and Oregon finally gave in on that.

Kirby Smart kept coaching the Alabama defense after taking the Georgia job a few years ago, so it makes sense. Not that unusual.

But the BYE comes in week 3. Stanford will play on 10 consecutive Saturdays.

No, 10 consecutive Saturdays.  We play two weeks, get a bye on week three, and play the last 10 games consecutively.  It’s been a while since the NCAA went from 11 to 12 games a season.

Don't pay attention to me.

Can he pass block?

Probably not.  Afraid of contact. Unable to move another cat against its will. Needs to hit the weights and work on S&C.

But his raw talent is undeniable. Excellent body control. Always lands upright. Could be good on goal line plays and FG blocks.
