Didn't an arranged tour at ESPN for Maya Moore during her recruitment by UConn have something to do with the Pat Summit - Geno Auriemma rift?
Pat Summit - Geno Auriemma rift
Maybe Stanford should include tours of Facebook or Google for its recruits. :)

I remember this as well, though I couldn't bring to mind the name of the player involved. Pat apparently was furious and it was after this that she put an end to what had been a home and home series with UConn. There was a lot of talk then about how ESPN was favoring UConn -- and how that was impacting recruitment -- in UConn's favor.

During Walsh 2 at Stanford a recruit was visiting. He was taken to Walsh’s office and Joe Montana was there. Stanford immediately reported this violation
So unlike Geno

Didn't Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi just conveniently show up for lunch in his office during Moore's visit, too?

Wow, Geno comes off of even more of an ass than I expected. Has he lost his filter?

I presume you saw the dig at Tara in his remarks, right?

If you were referring to the "a lot more than two" remark, Geno could have been referring to Muffet's two championships.

"I'm just glad we don't go 30 years between winning championships."
McGraw's championships were 17 years apart. Tara's most recent two were 29 years apart.

Geno alluded to something about being glad his program didn’t have to wait 30 years in between championships. I don’t know that this was a direct slight at Tara. He was responding to previous comments made by Muffet McGraw. Notre Dame had somewhere in the range of 18 years between their titles.
I will say Tara shows class and takes the high road when discussing other coaches. As much as I’m sure she has disdain for some coaches, she would never publicly say so. Geno sounds like a buffoon. I’m glad we have a classy coach.

Ah, so the 30 years between championships comment was indeed a reference to Tara? (seemed odd to pull her into the commentary but I also didn't think Muffet had that much time between her 2 championships...and I was too lazy to check)

Don't forget that Geno laughed about the fact that the food and exercise facilities at the womens' NCAA basketball tourney were far inferior to those of the mens'. All of his success has been gained on the backs of women, but he shows utter disrespect for women.
I sure hope Tara's team gets a chance to school his team this season.

Usually when people do off the cuff insults, they aren't fully researched. He was barking back at McGraw and since the 30 years between titles just happened, he was probably confused.
My guess is that stopped giving a crap about what anyone thinks about him or what he says a long time ago. That said, he was really gracious in the video tribute to VanDerveer when she passed Summit.

Then why do they play for him? He is a jerk. But he has been tremendous for the womens game.

I reread what Coach McGraw said. She was highly complimentary of UCON and Geno. Her criticism was well aimed, purely a criticism of ESPN. Geno's reaction was completely off-target and personally repugnant. We might be seeing the man dissolve in front of our eyes. People that feel they are above all reasonable decorum often tumble hard when they begin to deconstruct.
Consider this old fool:

Keep in mind when watching clip that Jordan Peppler is a former ND basketball player. I do not agree with everything he said, but then, to be honest, I was not a McGraw fan
