Now, the official is to call it, first with a warning, then a technical.)
Despite a point of emphasis that the officials enforce the rules as written, clearly the officials don't.
It will be a shame if this rule about bench decorum is also ignored by the officials.
(Anyone know how to get a message to one of the TV announcers? Maybe if they call it out, then the NCAA and officials will pay attention.)
If the officials are going to make any such calls, they would be well-advised to let Kansas know. I think it would not be right to all of a sudden issue a warning or bench technical for something they've been doing all season.
I may agree if there weren't a warning. The warning should be sufficient.

ESPN shows us as a 20.5 point favorite. I think it will be closer than that.

+1. I do think this will be a nail-biter. (Of course, I am the original worrywart, so every game is a nail-biter for me, LOL).

May this game bring Love to basketball.
Love to see that Jones is engaged and dialed in.
Love that Brink is playing with confidence.
Love that Wilson pulls the trigger and nails her first 3 point shot attempt.

Based on the first five minutes, I agree a close game seems likely. 10-8 with Brink going to the line.

Unnecessary fouls
3 people uncovered on that last shot

How do you leave someone completely unguarded for a three as time runs out?
We are up 20-18, but that last sequence was ugly.

We lead 20-18 after one quarter as Kansas, as expected, is putting up a much greater challenge than Montana State.
We are shooting 47% from the field with six players already scoring led by Brink's 7 points.
Wilson already has two fouls forcing her to the bench and with Lacie picking up an early foul, Tara tried a two guard lineup with both Belibi and Brink in at the same time, which has paid dividends with Fran cleaning up a Cameron miss. However, she went to Hamilton late in the quarter after Jones turned the ball over.
Lexie showing her typical mettle, diving for loose balls and going all out.
Defensively, we'll need to do better. They already have four offensive rebounds and Jackson has been able to get some looks inside.

Low scoring first half of the second quarter; we’ve held Kansas to two points, but only scored 5.

We are struggling without Wilson on the floor. It’s getting ugly out there.

10 turnovers in the half. That was just brutal to watch. We head into the half with a 33-31 lead.

I don’t understand why we make so many dumb dumb dumb turnovers. Just throwing to the opposing player. Or traveling for no reason.

We are leading 33-31 at the half, as 10 turnovers is preventing us from extending this lead. As far as I know, Kansas is not known for a particularly aggressive defense. It speaks to our Achilles' heel if we advance and face even more aggressive defensive teams in Texas and/or South Carolina down the road.
When we shoot the ball, we are doing pretty well, hitting half of our shots. Lexie has 11 points on 5/8 shooting and Brink is right behind her with 9 points. But we are coughing up the ball way too much, as our passes seemed ill-timed, deflected or into the hands of a Kansas player.
Lacie, Anna and Haley all have two fouls, but when Tara was forced to put Jones back in at the end of the second quarter when our offense was in a drought.
Kansas is hitting 40% of their shots and is basically tied with us on rebounds including grabbing 5 o-boards. Though two of their guards Franklin (1/7) and Prater (1/5) are being held in check, they have a varied attack and 7 players have already scored for them. Our scout defense can't totally sag off any one player as open shots are being made including the wide open three pointer at the end of the first quarter.
We'll need to cut down on our turnovers in the second half and hopefully Anna and Lacie can stay in the game without picking up more fouls.
