RE: Stanford T&F the World Cup - BobK - 07-19-2022

Early on during the mens steeplechase final a cameraman was standing in the middle of the track and the runners had to run around him. Phogge was that your protege?

RE: Stanford T&F the World Cup - WBB fan - 07-19-2022

Have been here since the start, been to every session. Great meet. But folks, it's not the "World Cup." It's the world championships. Would have noted this sooner except that I haven't been looking at the cardboard since the meet began.

Lots of Stanford representation here. No one mentioned Galen Rupp, finished in middle of marathon. Allman's qualifying in the discus came with a brobdingnagian sigh of relief since she fouled hef first two attempts, and had also had trouble in her warm-ups. Fisher almost pulled off a bronze in the 10 k, might have got it if he'd started his closing push just a bit earlier. This is an incredible meet. Hope lots of you are watching.

Micah Williams, Pac-12 double champ, finished 7th in the 100 at the NCAAs.

He the finished 4th at the US meet. Very respectable but not good enough to make worlds.

My point is that sprints are really super competitive for even elite guys, so Owuzerike really is doing great even if he isn’t improving on his Pac meet results.

Cranny advances to the 5K final
Little was the last final qualifier for the Javelin final

RE: Stanford T&F the World Cup - BobK - 07-20-2022

Allman with a great 224 feet for third
Great competition

Williams is in the mix for the 4 x 100, especially since Kerley appears to be injured. He's officially on the team.

Cranny ran very fast to make the 5000 final.

No American women in the 400 final. When did that last happen? Has it ever happened?

Mackenzie Littke 5th the javelin so very close to third and I believe a PR

She was in third headed into the final round. Looked pretty happy though.

Are you at the meet, Bob K? Tonight was the night to be there. McLaughlin's world record was stunning.

RE: Stanford T&F the World Championships - BobK - 07-23-2022

RE: Stanford T&F the World Championships - akiddoc - 07-25-2022

Fisher 6th in the 5000 after tripping on the rail on the last turn. Likely would have been 4th otherwise.

RE: Stanford T&F the World Championships - BobK - 07-25-2022

Too bad on Fisher
Mondo a WR.
McLaughin 47.8 in the relay
Stanford coach JJClark’s niece with Gold
What a meet.

Totally agree. We were there for every single minute of it, had a wonderful time, great fans around us -- cheered on everyone including Stanford folks, but also from everywhere around the world.
