She, but Wisconsin under Chryst has been punching above its weight for 8 years.  Maybe this is like firing Shaw after three games in 2019 so as to prevent the next three years and Wisconsin knows best, but as best I can tell, he’s still a darned good coach and would be close to the top of my list as a Shaw replacement, if it came to it.

That being said, I may be missing something.

Add: $16.4 million buyout. It was just in January that the AD rolled over Chryst’s contract.
IMHO there has to be a back story somewhere, like the AD and Chryst just can't co-exist (or worse).

Yeah something smells fishy here I suspect there's more to this story

RE: Another PAC 12 coaching change - chrisk - 10-04-2022

Chryst's negotiated buyout was revealed to be $11 million.

RE: Another PAC 12 coaching change - Giants - 10-04-2022

with the entire amount payable by February 1st rather than in installments.

Everywhere but Stanford.

Thanks for posting.  Unfortunately, it's behind a paywall.

Chryst would be a good hire.

Meanwhile, Nebraska hired Matt Ruhle, who did wonders at Temple and Baylor, then fell flat at North Carolina.

Probably a good hire.

Oh, and Auburn is in talks to hire Hugh Freeze, he of the using a university cell phone to call an escort service.

Didn’t realize he had moved to Liberty. The irony is thick.

They will probably give him his own private "booty call" phone as a signing bonus.

Ruhle actually fell flat at the Panthers of the NFL.  He was a signature hire from the college ranks that didn't quite turn out in the professional ranks.  Now it's back to the roots.

As for Hugh Freeze, there seems to be an unwritten rule that past scandals are forgiven as long as the new coach wins and doesn't commit any ethics violations at the new venue.  His past sins were committed as a Rebel, not as a Tiger (which just needs to stay that way....)  Liberty was happy to have him despite his sketchy past.  He has certainly proven that he can win.

RE: Another PAC 12 coaching change - BobK - 11-26-2022

Plus Freeze recently signed an 8 year contract. $5M plus a year

RE: Another PAC 12 coaching change - Austroturf - 11-26-2022

TCU looks to stay perfect with a 24-7 lead over Iowa State in the final game of the regular season.  Kansas vs Kansas St. later today will determine whether the Horned Frogs play K State or the Longhorns in the Big 12 championship game.

RE: Another PAC 12 coaching change - BostonCard - 11-26-2022

Sorry, yeah, I was thinking of the Carolina Panthers, not the University of North Carolina.

Let's see whether Ruhle's return to the college ranks is crowned with success.  Nebraska has been in a funk for a long time now.  They canned Pelini for his inability to get beyond 9 wins per season.  Those years are starting to look like a golden age.

Beavers imploding in the second half.  Ducks up 21-10.  Two INTs by Gulbranson in the game so far.  For those hoping USC does not make the playoff, this is good news.  Oregon probably matches up better vs. USC than, say, the Huskies.

Mike Price. “Roll Tide.”  What an idiot.  Funny story, though.

RE: Another PAC 12 coaching change - Giants - 11-26-2022

Reportedly, Prime Time has been offered the HC job at Colorado.  I would love to see him in the Conference.  Shaw v. Sanders.  Now, that would be a stylistic match-up for the ages…

RE: Another PAC 12 coaching change - PVTree - 11-26-2022

PT is just gaining some experience to take over the FSU job the next time it's open. Hiring him elsewhere would just be temporary until he leaves for Tallahassee.

I think it’s going to be sometime before the FSU HC position opens up.  Norvell is doing a good job rebuilding that program.
