I am glad I was there. It was a glorious autumn afternoon along Piedmont Ave. and in Strawberry Canyon, with a sold out Memorial Stadium, the largest Big Game crowd since 2012!
Both schools' students showed up en masse, and most stayed until the very end (well, until the last minute for the LSJU students). It was the first BG at Memorial Stadium for all the undergrads on both sides, due to the fan-less 2020 game. I wouldn't say it was "electric" throughout - too many incompletions and punts - but it was fun. Until the last ~ 12 minutes or so.

I also heard that Memorial Stadium was "sold out," but there were several sections in the south end zone that were covered with tarps.

not sure it was really "sold out" as Cal reports the attendance was 51,892 (and attendance is usually tickets sold) and Memorial Stadium capacity is 62,467...

My guess - all available seats were sold. Since the tarped seats, which are included in the stated capacity, were not available, it was technically a sellout.

My guess - tickets for all the available seats were sold. Since the tarped seats, which are included in the stated capacity, were not available, it was a sellout. A bit of a stretch but desperate times call for desperate measures and Cal is certainly desperate for any positive athletic attention.

To cal's credit, every seat on the home side of the stadium was full. It looked packed! Maybe they should have taken off the tarps and sold more tickets to make more money but oh well.
