RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Gonzaga Game Thread - martyup - 12-04-2022

Six Stanford players have hit a 3, not including Jump!

We had better start playing better defense or we could lose this game.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Gonzaga Game Thread - M T - 12-04-2022

8 players with 3s!!!!!!!!

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Gonzaga Game Thread - martyup - 12-04-2022

8 Stanford players have now hit a 3. Jinx MT

If Bosgana and Nivar can hit a 3, we will have 10 players scoring from beyond the arc. Could that be a record? Maybe 8 is a record?

We have a 15 point lead going into the 4th Q. We lead 66-51. We outscored them 21-15 in the 3rd.
Demetre is now 5-7 from 3!
As a team we are 13-22 from 3 (59.1%). The Zags have sold out to prevent our paint points and we have made them pay from beyond the arc.

With all our height, our 3s are a better % than our 2s

Man, I wish we could shoot like this consistently.  We'd be unstoppable.

Why is Jones still in?

And Brink. With 4 minutes to go and up 19

Maybe the lead wasn't big enough for the time remaining but Gonzaga had pulled Truong.

I guess Brink could use the practice with more minutes but Jones seemed like a risk

From your keyboard to Tara’s ears!

My guess is Tara is rewarding Brink for not fouling.

Anyone record or have a link to the halftime segment on the Pac12 Network following Brink and Jones around on I think media day? It was a fun video for the part i caught.

That was a top 25 team we just destroyed.

I think that was our best shooting game of the season.  48.3 -- 53.6 -- 91.7

I've been hesitant to embrace the stats from our earlier games due to the competition level (outside of SC) but can't make that excuse today. Very impressive.

Not really. They are ranked that, but that wasn’t their full team.

Even our 3FG% was enhanced by their short bench

And we missed some layups in the 2nd half!

Still a good team. They beat Louisville
with 8 ( though not sure if that was by coach's decision or necessity)

RE: WBB: Stanford 84 -- Gonzaga 63 - jonnyss - 12-04-2022

to my eyes, gonzaga played a 2-3 zone most of the game. plus maybe some box and 1. clogged the paint and doubled after any pass inside to a post. they limited scoring by kiki and fran, held cam and haley down a bit inside, but left a lot of room for outside shooting. live by the zone, die by the zone.

in her brief time on the court, lauren betts seemed to score inside (or get fouled and make the ft's) even when triple teamed.

i am very reassured to see brooke start to play up to her heralded profile! bodes well for life after hannah.

RE: WBB: Stanford 84 -- Gonzaga 63 - martyup - 12-04-2022

Is there any way to determine if having 8 players on a team make a 3 point shot in a game is a record?

I tried to record the game, but failed.

Update: I’ll try to grab the replay, but at my age 10:30 pm is a little late. I do, however, have the highlights plus the postgame interview with a nervous, but happy, Brooke Demetre.  Look for it in 30 minutes MOL.
