Nice first half by our team. We let OR back in the game after going up 20-0, but we found our groove and go into the locker room with a 17 point lead.
Hope Cam is okay. Looked like a slight hyperextension of the knee on TV.
In the first half, Kiki had 10 rebounds and 2 blocks. She only scored 3 points on 1-6 shooting.

Team looked rattled after Cam went down. Seeing her walk back out from the locker room and sit down in the bench seemed to put life back into the team. Ended the 1st half on an 12 point run. Now to keep that going. Everyone who has played has scored

How about that second foul on Kiki? The dribbler looked back and then jumped backward into Kiki's path.
At 4:15 to play in the 3rd Q, four of our players have 8 points, another has 9, and another has 6. That's what I call spreading out the scoring.

This conference is crazy. On any given day . . .
We have a 20 point lead after 3 quarters.

Lepolo taking her shot and making. Hope she keeps it up. She made 7 threes in a row in warm ups.

That is crazy. Utah may have figured out how to guard Watkins who takes 30 shots a game. She's fantastic, but...
We have a 20 point lead after 3 quarters.

Why is OR calling timeouts? They just like spending time in Maples?
Esp down by 30.

What a breakout game for Lepolo. Almost a double double with points and assists (13 and 8 with only 1 turnover).
I think Cam is okay. She was jumping up and down after the game excited for Tara tying the record. She even picked Tara up in a bear hug.

Even so, it was a fairly quick game, not too many fouls.
Close called a timeout with seconds left and a comfortable lead over Colorado.

At first it looked like her knee was hyper-extended backwards, but they iced her calf below the knee and above the ankle as if no joint was involved. I'm hoping that is a good sign. Maybe a pulled muscle or a bruised shin?
1) The atmosphere of the game was the best so far this season, in my opinion. Hundreds of students, plus fans sitting all over the upper areas. Not used to seeing either. And the band, dollies, and cheerleaders were there. It actually felt like a college game.
2) The potential injury to Brink is deeply unsettling, but there is no cause to panic as yet. If it had been a tendon tear she would not have been biking, bouncing, flexing up and down on her toes, etc. That doesn't mean she will be back on Sunday, necessarily, but it did not look season ending.
3) The emotional roller coaster was so obvious in the game. Up 20-0, Brink goes out, we give up a 10 point run. Shades of Gonzaga hung over our heads. But the team got it back together and when Iriafen went out toward the end of the first half, leaving us with a much much smaller team than Oregon, we actually expanded our lead.
4) Oregon plays zone, and the chalk talk noted that we had been working on our zone-busting offense all week. It worked. Demetre and Iriafen were clearly the zone busters, taking numerous shots from the elbow. The mid range jumper in the open area is exactly what was needed, and Demetre in particular has the profile to destroy zones. Iriafen got around her taller defender when one-on-one several times, but she also took and made the mid range jumpers she needed to.
5) Star of the game was Lepolo. Second leading scorer and 3/6 from three point range. 8 assists to 1 turnover. And she defended Chance Grey. Now the defense was not always perfect, but holding Grey to 19 was actually an accomplishment.
6) I was happy to see Bosgana have a much better game. 11 points but more importantly was her defense on VanSlooten, who was only 4/12. She deflected balls and had a steal. Aggressive.
7) Agara just continues to impress. Six baskets in limited minutes and energy on defense.
8) The crowd gave Iriafen a standing ovation as she fouled out. 21 points and 15 rebounds, and much better defense than those 5 fouls would suggest.

Maples crowd had lots of boos for the refs on that one, especially after we saw the replay on the scoreboard.

Seeing Cam go down was, well, scary. And then the immediate collapse after that -- but they did rally and get it back together before the end of the half which I found very encouraging. By the end of the game, I felt that Stanford showed in this game that it's much more than the Cameron Brink show. Yes, Lepolo was a star tonight, but so was Kiki, etc.
The non-stars in this game, another wtf game from the refs.

watching the ucla game and then our game on tv, betts is good under the basket (especially with o-boards and put-backs), but both cam and kiki seem much better all-around basketball players. quicker, stronger, better mid-range shot. much as it's annoying to have betts transfer, it makes sense as i don't think she'd start here ahead of cam or kiki.

Betts is a great offensive rebounder, she is averaging 3.9 a game. But guess what, Iriafen is averaging a staggering 4.1 offensive rebounds a game. In the past we've been able to manage multiple "All American" level posts but in today's world where transferring is so easy and NIL is real money, I also don't blame Betts for transferring. She's good enough to start almost anywhere but that wasn't guaranteed at Stanford with Brink and Iriafen.

Yep, she was the #1 recruit but wouldn't start until her junior year. She had to transfer, imo. Too bad because we could really use her next year. Who is our other big next year? Nunu?

Watching a replay of the game, with about 4 minutes left in the first quarter, 18-0 Stanford, the announcers engaged in some banter. "That's a football score." "Tell me how you get 18." "Good question. I'll have to work on that."
Nine safeties, d'oh.
Re Cam's hurt leg, haven't seen it mentioned that an OR player ran over her from behind. As usual, no call.

I was really hoping we'd see Cam get some decent first half minutes and she certainly was on her way. I couldn't believe this happened 6 minutes in. Like someone put a curse on her this P12 season that prevents her from playing more than 8 minutes in a first half.
So great to see Kiki come through vs Oregon State (which is now ranked #25). Assuming Cam comes back soon, this may be a blessing in disguise as the team has learned to win without Cam when it needs to. Plus Kiki has demonstrated she can lead the team (good for both this year and next). Her confidence this year is extraordinary. She's even hitting 3s now!
