They are struggling against a mediocre, Mountain West team.
Let that sink in. This isn't Stanford. It's Oregon State in the 1980s.

Sinking is the correct term.

I appreciate watching a good passing attack. Protection, accuracy, routes, execution — our OC and QB coaches could learn from theirs.

Oh wait….

ZERO running TDs by a RB this year?  AYFKM??

It's worth repeating (see signature below):
Is anybody listening to the half-time TV crew? Stanford is no longer respectable. It is a PUNCHLINE.

That Roush holding penalty was BS through and through (not meaningful imo).  Called back a TD.  Screw these refs.

I thought we were done with crummy Pac 12 officiating ... my bad.

15 minutes and the season will mercifully be over.

Bailey and Bernadel with the forced fumbles and TD recovery by Galvan!

RE: FB -- San Jose State Game Thread - thunder_chik - 11-29-2024

"Better to be lucky than good"...we have a chance.

At least the officials were either us on that one.

Wait, doctor - there <is> a pulse.....

RE: FB -- San Jose State Game Thread - fullmetal - 11-29-2024

We got lucky that the refs didn't botch that call.  But Bailey earned that forced fumble with his good hand placement to prevent the forward motion.  Bernadel knocked the ball loose with bad intentions.  And Galvan led the charge, swarming to the ball.  Excellent play.

Yeah, Collin!

RE: FB -- San Jose State Game Thread - fullmetal - 11-29-2024

Wright picks off Eget in the end zone intended for Nash!!!  Great return, could have gone all the way if the rest of the defense had blocked properly :)

SJSU #26 with a dirrrrrty targeted hit against defenseless Ayomanor :(   (Shoulder to helmet)

#26 disqualified, as appropriate.

Daniels playing well right now.  Second and goal down three.  ESPN just recalculated game win % north of 60%.  Let's go.

Daniels rushes straight ahead for the TD!

SJSU with their chunk play offense -- it's almost as if their minumum passing completion goes for 10-12 yds.  And they ripped off a 12 yd rush while our pass rush was looking to get home.  And then a sneaky fake handoff for a QB first down conversion.  And Nash picks one up off the turf on 2nd and 10 to get to the red zone.  Ugh.

Stanford's #18 Sumlin is vindicated from the possibility of a targeting penalty (it was close-ish, but not actually penalty-worthy imo).  On 3rd and 6, the pass rush gets home and forces Eget to throw out of bounds.  4th and 6 from the STAN15 down four...SJSU takes a time out.

RE: FB -- San Jose State Game Thread - PalmTree - 11-29-2024

Be ready, D!

RE: FB -- San Jose State Game Thread - fullmetal - 11-29-2024

Wright lines up man to man with Nash and Eget overthrows Nash!!!

After the turnover on downs, Daniels runs around a lot for an 8 yd gain and is tackled helmet to helmet by a SJSU DB.  Daniels looks fine, but the SJSU player is still down on the field :(

SJSU #6 is up and walking, thankfully.  That was a head-on helmet collision :(

On 2nd and 2, Daniels runs straight ahead into what looked like an eight-man box (????).  I think maybe they saw that coming.  SJSU calls a timeout, and if Stanford doesn't get down the field and score, things do not look good.

On 3rd and 2, Daniels gets flushed backward and throws an INT to the ~36 yd line. But it's under review.

Ruling stands.  SJSU has 2:39 at the STAN36 down four points.

OH FFS!!!!

RE: FB -- San Jose State Game Thread - thunder_chik - 11-29-2024

3rd time he has panicked and we are s**weed, leading by 4, why were we not playing for the punt? Bad call, coach.

RE: FB -- San Jose State Game Thread - fullmetal - 11-29-2024

Apparently we're in prevent defense with plenty of cushion underneath for SJSU WRs.
