If this season ends like last season, Paye needs to be fired. The offense is unwatchable.

Looks like Amborn finally missed. Two free throws missed.

Per Massey, Stanford has the 32nd ranked offense in the country, which, while not great, should not be a fireable offense.

In Q4, no fouls on Stanford, but CSU has 5.

Ogden taking over on defense and offense.

Stanford has played ZERO power four conference teams and no ranked teams. You do know that right?

Ogden literally carrying us to this victory if we can hold on.

Massay’s ratings take into account the strength of the opponent’s defense. You do know that right?

Great comeback. The toughness on offense and defense in the 4th quarter was great. And very nice designed play at the end to win the game.

Wow what a win. So tough at the end

Yes, this team keeps going and has mostly finished each game.
Lots of stats categories look poor (8 assists on 23 FG, etc) and a few relatively good ones (6 steals to 3, 4 blocks to 1)
Somfai's 16 rebounds is impressive. Agara had another quiet 18 point game. Ogden was another bright spot.
I didn't watch the game, but I hope I can on Youtube.

Credit Carly Amborn for providing the turning point of the game. Credit the coaches for keeping their cool and for drawing up such a fine final play. Credit the players for spreading the floor and executing the play perfectly. Credit Nunu for the well-executed screen and Chloe for outrunning the defense. Hell, credit the game thread while you are at it, the moon phase, and Coach Paye!

I'll start with the good news. With about 5 minutes left in the game, and Stanford on the brink of letting the game slip away (as it had last night), everything changed. I saw a Stanford team become tough and physical on defense (without fouling) and exceptionally determined to score every time they came down the court. YES, it was still the troublesome offense Kate has them playing, but they were aggressive and they found a way to claw their way back in the game (15 straight points) and take the lead. And then for Chloe to win it (from a drawn-up play- credit Kate), with a layup in the last 2 seconds. Had Stanford played that way against FGCU, we would be 9-0.
But for 35 minutes, CSU controlled the game, defensively packing the middle with no space for Stanford to operate and then on offense, working their weave and finding mis-matches which they exploited time and time again.
Two troublesome signs; Swain has become less and less a factor and I believe she's not comfortable playing in this offense. Second; Paye has Eschmeyer on a tighter and tighter leash for reasons I just don't understand. We saw Alex's potential in Stanford's first two games. Coach Paye saw it; so did Stanford's other coaches- and then the leash got tight. Her teammates didn't do Alex any favors tonight. Twice she posted up and had sealed her defender and twice, someone throws a horrible pass- one gets intercepted and the other goes over her head and out of bounds. Does Kate really believe that Eschmeyer will learn and grow by sitting and watching from the bench? I think not. Sadly, we are seeing a replay of Tara and Lauren Betts. We are a relatively small team without Eschmeyer in there and that lack of height and length will hurt this team as the season progresses. I am now 90% sure Eschmeyer leaves after her freshman season.
But I did love our fight in the 4th. quarter.

I really don't agree with this type of fear mongering. Call me old fashion, but the cosch needs to be the principal arbiter of who will play and how many minutes each player will get. Everyone has the right to worry, and even vent on the cardboard, but, come on, if we start worrying about losing players because they aren’t getting enough minutes, we have become slaves of the Portal. That is a classic case of the Tail Wagging the Dog.
I’d rather see our coaches make, what they think is a good coaching decision. And if those that hire and fire determine that the coach, in the overall handling of the team, is not making the right decisions, then they know what to do.

great play, thanks for the video. not sure much was "drawn up." looks like a give-and-go, perhaps the simplest play in basketball.
