So, The Jaquish & Kenninger Director of Athletics Bob Bowlsby is closing down the Hall of Fame Room and then getting out of town? Hmmm... :-\
By the way, when he leaves Stanford, does The Jaquish & Kenninger Director of Athletics Bob Bowlsby get to keep the whole title, or does he have to give it back [and, presumably, file a name change petition...]?

Ah Hall of Fame rooms...fond memories.
Not Stanford's as I have never walked in to the place. Rather my memories are of SC's room.
I went to the 2009 SC game with an SC alum. The guy pushed me all the way through the impossibly crowded campus just to see the SC HofF. There I was forced to take pictures of the guy next to the Bush Voldemort and the BCS trophy. He explained that these are the types of things real football programs display in their HofF.
Later that day, Stanford served a healthy beating. Thought it wouldn't get any better than that, but now his photos are quite the collector's items as both trophies are long gone now. :)

The next AD will get the title, just as David Shaw is now the Bradford M. Freeman Director of Football, and just as a different professor is given an endowed chair when the holder of that chair leaves, dies, or retires.
Why is that so hard to understand?

The Hall of Fame room is important. They need to find a way to keep it, and surely Development/Fundraising knows the importance of being able to appeal to a winning tradition.

Not really hard to understand [and, indeed, I actually knew it].Â
It's just that, for the past few years, I've never heard him introduced at any event -- and, by that I mean ANY(!) event -- as simply Bob Bowslby. Instead, every single time he's been called The Jaquish & Kenninger Director of Athletics Bob Bowlsby, to the point where I assumed he had, in fact, adopted the enitre moniker. After all, it trips so lightly off the tongue...
As for Shaw, I will know we've all lost our minds when he changes from "Coach Shaw" to "Coach The Bradford M. Freeman Director of Football David Shaw"...

I guess I was a little sensitive from reading all the comments regarding the Andrew Luck Director of Offense.
I can't remember hearing Bob Bowlsby addressed with that title; maybe that's what's keeping applicants away from the position. ::)
