Re: Bravo, Farm93 - dabigv13 - 10-27-2012

The Tro.jans of Greek mythology, who are famous mainly for getting rocked by the Greeks.

I would argue Berkeley's pizza primacy. Pizza Chicago and Pizza My Heart were both pretty solid spots. Now, Top Dog and the asian ghetto are both checkmarks in the Berkeley column. Frankly I think Berkeley is a much more interesting place than Palo Alto. But the "it's dirty and people are mean" tagline is pretty on point.

Ahh should have realized. That one is funny. Didn't get the BART thing until today. Now it's hilarious

Re: Bravo, Farm93 - CowboyIndian - 10-27-2012

Alternatively, how about "The school that graduates fewer than half its football players"? That has a nice, if long, ring to it.

Edited: to state that I realize that description is not limited to Kal, unfortunately. However, I think folks here will understand the reference.

So to quote Denzel Washington in 'Philadelphia,' - jacketree - 10-29-2012

Explain it to me like I'm a four year old.

How is auto-correcting what I believe to be the abbreviation for California used on the Anchor Steam label (I'm not sure; could be wrong -- I will have to conduct research later tonight*) to "college near a BART station" hilarious?  Maybe it's just confusing - I thought everyone was talking about Hastings for some odd reason.

When I began posting on this site just as TW exited stage right (or left? I don't know) and realized that my own words would not be under my own control, I tried to come up with clever references such as "University near the Ashby BART Station" and "University of Larry Blake" until I realized just how lame that was and resorted to a simple C.al. (Let's see what happens to that).

The auto-correcting is lame IMO. We should be able to write what we want to write, when we want to write it.  The fact that we can't even use the word "h*uge" something like 13 years after the fact is a little nutty.

*Dammit. It's Calif.  Shoots down an entire premise of my post.

Haha, gotcha :)  I took Latin for six years; guess I was projecting a bit.

Because we said so.

Well, I asked for it.

I guess humor is in the eye of the beholder. Or beer holder.

Re: Bravo, Farm93 - estephan500 - 10-31-2012

Only slightly off topic -- I have to say that the culture that's developed of these boards of like minded fans -- who then make rare diplomatic visits to opposing teams' boards -- is a blast and a great addition to football. I really have a happy memory of those Oklahoma State folks that came over ont this board before the bowl game. Mostly good natured banter and even had a chance to hash out stuff about USA stereotypes.

Maybe I'm being starry eyed here and the majority of the boards are a bunch of woofing and dittoing.

Last note -- on any online board or comment thread, when you read someone that's really being a crass idiot... Or a troll just looking for reactions -- I've come to realize that some of those folks are just young, some even 16 years old or less even. And we reflexively respond to them with venom and cement our belief that there is a giant stratum of morons in society. (Rather than just a large one.)  I think that phenomenon represents a startling portion of what we think of as trolls.
