Re: WR Devon Allen - Extra Point - 02-01-2013

"Shaw said they are done with this class so he obviously didn't get into Stanford. My guess is he ends up at FSU. Also considering Vandy and Miami."

I wouldn't say it is obvious that Cunningham did not get admitted from Shaw's statement. Shaw may of meant that they are not looking at any new recruits. He may have meant that none of the remaining recruits on the board are currently interested. He may have meant that they have done all they can and are waiting for events beyond their control. It still does not add up to 0%.

I don't know, oman, maybe it's just me being a stickler for honest dealings.  If I was a fan of another school I wouldn't want to be under the assumption someone who was admitted to Stanford chose against Stanford, which is what is going to happen to many fans next Wednesday.  I'd rather have Stanford's hat only be on the table when Stanford is an option.  If that means less exposure for Stanford, so be it. But on the flip side, Stanford's conversion rate for admits is exceptionally high.  I'd rather have the reality be that when you see a Stanford hat on the table, it means that hat is going to be the one chosen.  In an honest display of options, it will in most often be the one selected.

Re: WR Devon Allen - oman - 02-01-2013

Naive response, but how are we to know what is honest and what is not?  Are Stanford coaches encouraged to announce who has been rejected?

Stanford has never struck me as the kind of place that ever wanted to get anything, no matter how small, out of someone's rejection, and that is what this would seem to me to be.

No question in terms of honesty, yes, I imagine that this could occur, but do we really think it occurs all that much?  I would think it would be pretty rare.  And the potential down side is pretty large if the truth came out.

The valedictorian of my kid's high school was rejected by Stanford and had to settle for Dartmouth.  He strikes me as the kind of kid who would tell his fellow classmates that Stanford was his first choice, but if he chooses not to, that is between him and whatever governs his honesty.

Maybe they gave Devon the same entertainment package as Davin - Redrum - 02-05-2013

Nice bong in the foreground.  No wonder so many guys commit.  That's Ga. DE Davin Bellamy seated in the Oregon jacket.
