Re: Utah game thread - shinsengumi - 10-12-2013

No improvement in D in second half.

Re: Utah game thread - Griffins78 - 10-12-2013

Defense is getting dominated more than we've seen in a long time.

Re: Utah game thread - Griffins78 - 10-12-2013

wow! we needed that!

Re: Utah game thread - dabigv13 - 10-12-2013

That interception was brobdingnagian!!!!!!!!!

Our defense had been playing horribly this drive, in all phases. Very lucky. We need a big drive here to give the D time to regroup and pull their heads from their asses.

And a Hewitt reception! Good start.

Re: Utah game thread - 82 Card - 10-12-2013

Hogan saves the drive with his feet after drop by tight end.

Re: Utah game thread - stupac2 - 10-12-2013

Not sure why that wasn't whistled dead, but I don't think it'll get overturned. This game is really not going well for us.

Re: Utah game thread - JohnR34231 - 10-12-2013

We now turn the ball over.

It is clearly not our day.

Re: Utah game thread - dabigv13 - 10-12-2013

Unbelievable call. If a player is wrapped up like that a whistle needs to blow. Refs are not helping here.

The defense needs to come out and get some push here. Win or lose this game, our defensive performance here is extraordinarily concerning because we're not being fooled out there, we are being bullied. This is a critical drive.

Re: Utah game thread - Farm93 - 10-12-2013

It has been a long time since a game looked out of reach this way.  It is only a one score game, but it seems like Utah has the better game scheme today.

Re: Utah game thread - fullmetal - 10-12-2013

Andersen and Poole are carving up the defense in space.  Ridiculous.

Re: Utah game thread - fullmetal - 10-12-2013

Is the altitude possibly a factor?  4657ft...and the team has only been in SLC for a short time.

Re: Utah game thread - dabigv13 - 10-12-2013

If its that apparent in the 2nd quarter then our players' fitness is seriously in question.

I agree with Farm93....it's been a while since the sense of hopelessness has been this strong. Our defense does not look capable of stopping their offense with any consistency.

Re: Utah game thread - JohnR34231 - 10-12-2013

Who knows what the problem is, but....

.....ever since Montgomery's KO return we have been totally dominated.

Been quite a while since that has happened.

We turn the ball over again.

This is truly the game from hell.

Of course it is a factor, but it is not exactly a new development.  The team is deep enough that this should not be the problem.  Of course, UCLA only won by 7 despite the benefit of 6 INTs.

Re: Utah game thread - stupac2 - 10-12-2013

Oh my god. What else can go wrong?

I blame Wilner.

Re: Utah game thread - estephan500 - 10-12-2013

Gaining information as we go through our season.

When we pulled out victories in the past, it made it easy to paper over questions about offense, questions about uneven defense...

Also, Shaw has not seen that many losses. If we lose, we can see how well he draws motivation and definition from that.

Re: Utah game thread - fullmetal - 10-12-2013

I've seen some holding go uncalled.  Hogan needs to wake the hell up and stop being slow.

Re: Utah game thread - dabigv13 - 10-12-2013

And their kicker hits a career long FG...not going our way.

Still, at least our defense looked somewhat competent there. This is depressing.

Re: Utah game thread - dabigv13 - 10-12-2013

It's a good thing this game is on Pac12 network so people can't see how terribly we played.

Re: Utah game thread - fullmetal - 10-12-2013

What happened to Hogan?  Geez.
