Yeah, this one is puzzling to me. The key to last year's win over Oregon in Autzen was how well the D controlled the edges. This year, though? Ugh....

Yes, of course that is true. Still I imagine it's difficult to grow up playing football one way, then have the "emphasis" change on you in the last year or two.

Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - dabigv13 - 10-19-2013

Great individual effort there by Ty....defense was giving us a run there tho, should've taken it.

Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - akCard - 10-19-2013

DAG! Think I almost had a minor heart attack there.

But commentators (announcers??) are right: Montgomery has deceptive speed. And great strength while running.

More passes to Ty, please.

Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - dabigv13 - 10-19-2013

Still seems we are only able to pass the ball downfield when we're not in clear passing downs.

Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - akCard - 10-19-2013

Nice pressure by the D on the last few drives

Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - Cardinal96 - 10-19-2013

Halfway through the 2nd quarter we have held a team scoring over 40 points a game scoreless.  D is playing great.  Time to take advantage.

Idano, man. Think Chris Spielman saw what I saw: Shayne hesitated for a second but then continued on to hit Hundley. I think that's why the penalty was called.

Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - akCard - 10-19-2013

NO WILDCAT!!!

Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - akCard - 10-19-2013

That was a personal foul??

Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - dabigv13 - 10-19-2013

And another BS call....SEC refs call this game and neither of those are called.

Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - Kathy - 10-19-2013

TV announcers just said UCLA's punter has punted more in this game than he has in all previous games this season.

Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - dabigv13 - 10-19-2013

Another drive ends with Shaw not willing to throw downfield on 3rd and medium distance...

Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - washingtonismoney - 10-19-2013

Last year the read-option on 3rd down killed UCLA. This time they've adjusted. Good try, time to get away from it.

Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - Cardinal96 - 10-19-2013

Ugh.  We are playing not to lose.

Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - Kathy - 10-19-2013

Punting a lot, too.

I don't think so. As I said, last year Hogan picked up three or four third downs in that way. It's not exactly crazy to see if they've properly adjusted.

Not a big fan of blaming everything on the refs, but that sure looked like a BS call to me, too (and to the announcers).

Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - Cardinal96 - 10-19-2013

Omg these refs are screwing us on spots.

Re: Stanford - UCLA thread - akCard - 10-19-2013

I'm normally not one to complain about the refs (it is what it is plus they're making calls at real-time while we have the benefit of super slow-mo replays) but what is up with this crew??
