Re: Predict the score: #4 Stanford @ U.S.C. - washingtonismoney - 11-14-2013

27-17.

Re: Predict the score: #4 Stanford @ U.S.C. - fullmetal - 11-14-2013

24-21.  Defense doesn't solve Marqise Lee very well, but the pass rush eventually gets to Wittek in the 4Q to prevent a go-ahead score.  Gaffney and co. pound the U$C defense for tough yards, and we see more play action passing of the 10-15 yd variety to Rector, Whitfield, and Cajuste.  Ty Montgomery gets double-covered all game by a wary $C defense, but he gets his yards in the return game.

Can you tell I'm a bit worried?

Are you implicitly predicting that Kessler is going down, or did you just forget which QB they're using now?

Stanford 27 - $C 21

Won't be as close as the score indicates.

Re: Predict the score: #4 Stanford @ U.S.C. - CompSci87 - 11-14-2013

Stanford 30 - USC 16

Re: Predict the score: #4 Stanford @ U.S.C. - SUBuddha - 11-14-2013

I am going with 27 Stanford, 20 SC. I think it will be 14 all at the end of the first half, with Stanford driving. In the second half Gaffney will average 6.3 YPC with 3 YAC. The SC D-line will fully collapse by the middle of the 4th quarter, but Shaw will keep grinding it rather than go for the big shots at the end.

Re: Predict the score: #4 Stanford @ U.S.C. - Trevmiesterj - 11-14-2013

35-17 Stanford.

Trojan fans evaporate by mid 3rd quarter into the thick SoCal night.

Re: Predict the score: #4 Stanford @ U.S.C. - Hank 91 - 11-14-2013

Stanford 31, U.S.C. 13

There's no way the team will overlook this game. It might be deceptively close at half time, but I think the coaching staff has finally realized (or resigned themselves to the fact) that we're a running team. Look for 50 carries and 250 yards on the ground. I can't wait.

I forgot.  I assume they're both similarly skilled though, unless Lame was that terrible of a QB evaluator.

Re: Predict the score: #4 Stanford @ U.S.C. - TChickens - 11-14-2013

Stanford, 38-13.
The Cardinal dominates the LOS and TOP AND gets points from Def and ST. An impressive win again on national TV further adding fuel to the "One-Loss Stanford better than Undefeated OSU & Baylor - maybe even FSU" debate…
…or it'll be close for reasons I can't fathom. Who knows? I'll just watch and cheer.

Re: Predict the score: #4 Stanford @ U.S.C. - CochinoJanks - 11-14-2013

Stanford - 35
USC - 28

Stanford gets in front and stays there.

Re: Predict the score: #4 Stanford @ U.S.C. - Card Fan in OR - 11-14-2013

31 --  us
17 --  them.

I keep waiting for our offense to live up to my overly optimistic predictions, so I'll lower my "us" score just a tad. Our defense keeps the game from being competitive (i.e., close), though.

Re: Predict the score: #4 Stanford @ U.S.C. - pefloresjr - 11-14-2013

Stanford 27 - SC 17.

Stanford scores two running and one passing td.  When sc slows run game early by loading up the box, Hogan has some success defeating it with some mid and deep completions.  Stanford gets the lead, then has too many stalled drives in the second half, but Stanford's defense keeps SC bottled up because of the pressure put on the quarterback.

Cheers,
Pete F.

D dominates Figueroans.  Kessler and Troy sacked.  SC sells out to stop run; Hogan, Cajuste, Montgomery shred Fig secondary.

Stanford 31, Figueroans 14.

Re: Predict the score: #4 Stanford @ U.S.C. - Griffins78 - 11-15-2013

Stanford 28 USC 17

The game is at the Coliseum and more than the Ducks, the Trojans know they have a Stanford problem - that we are what is between them and their return to glory. In many respects this is the biggest game of the year for them. If they can beat us - it will do wonders for their season, their team, their program, etc. They are loose without much outside expectation and they are playing with much more abandon than earlier this year and even the last few years. They have talent and we will get their best shot. They have also reenergized the fan base. My USC friends/family were down in the dumps a few weeks ago. They thought they'd be throttled by us and were probably reluctant to even go to the game. Now they're back on board and starting to be obnoxious again. They are going to be cheering their team and it will be loud (at the beginning).

They will play an aggressive attacking defense against our run with lots of energy and enthusiasm, trying to force us to pass to open the game.

This is where the trajectory of the game will be determined. If we can establish the run and take control early and get a lead, we'll begin to take the crowd out of the game, begin to take the fight out of their team, and this could be an easy win. Or we relax and let them back in. Or, if we can't run early and turn the ball over on downs or on turnovers, they will become rabid and it could become a fight and it could get ugly.

I'm voting for the easy win but one that we let them stay in the game.

Looks like a lot of people are picking similar scores, but I think everybody is basically right.

Stanford--30
SC--18

Re: Predict the score: #4 Stanford @ U.S.C. - martyup - 11-15-2013

Stanford 30
USC 21

This is going to be a slug fest.  But, we hit harder.
