After falling behind 5-2 late in the first half, Stanford scored in literally the last second of the half, then scored twice in the third period while holding the Bruins down, even through several 6 on 5s that seemed like calls that weren't there in the first half.

In the last 30 seconds, Stanford drew an exclusion (that I think should've been a penalty, a player with the ball facing the net dragged under from behind) and converted with less than 5 seconds left to tie the game.

5-5 heading to the final period.

Watch.

Quote:Trivia: I am at my favorite Mexican place in Palo Alto, and a bunch of women in Tulsa jackets are at nearby tables. They must be the women's tennis squad, who lost to Long Beach State yesterday.

If you're looking for good Mexican, you should head to EPA and get some Tres Hermanos. One of the things I miss most about leaving the Bay Area.

With the streak being alive, I can breathe a little easier now.  I hope Men's Golf and Women's Tennis can accomplish the same feat.  #GoCard

UCLA: 110 NCAA titles
Stanford: 104
SC: 99

(if football counts)
UCLA: 111
SC: 109
Stanford: 105

Let's see if we can continue to make progress here.

FCS football counts, but if there is no NCAA team title associated with the event then forget it.  Same rule would applies for ultimate, synchronized swimming, rugby, badminton, table tennis, etc.

And with SC and Bush the rule definitely applies.  The NCAA would have taken that title away, but the AP did not.  So does that count or not?  Easy rule...No NCAA team title, no need to tally.  And if the NCAA takes away your team title (see UCLA softball) then the tally is reduced.

I don't see how anybody could make an accurate, undisputed count of football championships. For quite a few seasons, there are two or more teams claiming the championship. Many of those claims are pretty weak, but there's no definitive way of resolving the issue. You start getting into a morass pretty quickly.

If you start counting non-NCAA championships, there are some minor sports that really distort the results. Arizona State won 96 national championships in archery and badminton, including men's, women's, and co-ed championships (yes, 96 -- not a typo). If you count those, then ASU has over 130 national championships, which is just silly.

And of course you cannot count non-NCAA championships because it would allow the Weenies to count rugby, and that just wouldn't do.
