OK, glad we got a TD on that drive. Can't believe Wazzu keeps kicking it to Ty. Don't know who Taboada is, but good on him for that touchdown catch! Glad to see we're mixing it up a little, and giving some touches to Barry S. and McCaffrey.

Taboada: the least talked about of our three redshirt freshman tight ends.

And now our offense looks great and no one has complained about anything!
I think Washington states defense is closer to army or Davis than they are to Washington or Notre dame.

Overall I am happy with how we have looked. I really wish we would call more running plays. Sanders, in particular, has been effective and we should be feeding him the ball more.Â

You jinxed us wim. Another turnover deep in the red zone.

"4th Red Zone turnover of the season"... devil is in the details and we shoot ourselves in the foot once again. So frustrating to lose the ball on the 1/2 yard line, and miss out on 7 points.

I know, right? That one was another dumb one, too -- can't tell you the number of times I've seen a player fumble it reaching for the first down or touchdown.
Re: Stanford-WSU Game Thread -

The bigger problem is I think we are oh-for-four or five trying to run it into the end zone from within the five over three possessions. The one touchdown was on a fade, and we have 10 pts to show for it.
The lack of a bruising back is killing us.

Holding on back to back plays... At least it didn't cost us a touchdown. But really...

This.
For once I have no real criticisms of Shaw's playcalling ... except for the mystifying rotation of running backs. Barry J has looked very good so far but he's being subbed out. Just like quarterbacks, running backs need to get in a rhythm and the constant shuffling in and out isn't allowing for that.
(Full disclosure: today has been a sh*tty day so I came into the game highly critical and I'm trying hard to relax, enjoy my pizza, and ice cold Dr Pepper.)

And we miss the 37 yard field goal. That's back to back empty red zone possessions.
Thanks WIM.

This is one of the most bizarre seasons ever.

332 vs. 133 yards at halftime. A couple of big returns on special teams. Only a 10 point lead to show for it. Ugh.

The two sour statistics in the game for Stanford:
1/6 on third downs
1-0 losing the turnover battle

Hey at least this time we've got a lead despite the offensive issues!

And 4 penalties for 45 yards.

Do we need to beat the point spread to stay in the top 25?
Re: Stanford-WSU Game Thread -
BostonCard - 10-10-2014
No we don't need to beat the spread, but we can't have a really ugly game.
Lost in the shuffle is the fact that Halliday who had 700 yards last week against Cal has been held to about 150 yards... And no wSU rusher has gone beyond the line of scrimmage.

By itself, this is not too, too bad (but still a bit out of character compared to the last 4 or 5 seasons) but the problem is that 2 of theses penalties wiped out very positive plays. The offensive line is still having issues, even against a defensively-challenged team like Wazzu, but they are looking better than the last two games.

Cajuste has cost the team two touchdowns.
