Since we\'ve moved on to who should replace Harbs, assuming he leaves, how about Randy Shannon. It doesn\'t look great to hire a coach who was just fired, but he\'s a good coach, and he has a great track record of graduating his players. I wouldn\'t be upset if he replaces Harbaugh.

Oh yeah, the schools are so minor that I forgot Budddy was a head coach before us. Â Scratch that thought.

Quote:I don\'t mean to create more gossip or speculation. I\'m not even bold enough to say Harbaugh would take the job at Michigan. Stanford is a great program, great university and Palo Alto does have nicer weather than Ann Arbor, MI.
But I must say alot of Michigan fans are making rumblings about trying to get Harbaugh. I\'d like to see Rodriguez succeed at Michigan at the same time I would like to see Harbaugh continue to succeed at Stanford. Should be interesting to see what happens in the next year at Michigan. I doubt we\'ll get rid of Rodriguez this season unless we get totally embarrassed in the bowl game. If we can\'t compete with the good teams on our schedule next year I don\'t see them not making a coaching change.
As a Michigan alum who\'s dream school was Stanford I hope to see success for both programs. Go Cardinal!
...I just don\'t see Harbaugh stepping down to take a lesser (or at best, a lateral) position like HC of Michigan. Â These aren\'t the Schembechler days...many teams finished ahead of Michigan in the Big 10 this year, and the UM fans sound a biiiiiiiiiiit like the UND fans. Â How would you like 100,000 ungrateful fans calling for your head?
He\'s 11-1 at Stanford, which was 1-11 the year before he got here. Â He\'s making decent coin. Â If he wanted the bigger challenge, Michigan isn\'t it. Â If he wins at Michigan, well, it\'s Michigan. Â If he loses at Michigan, it\'s another failed Pac-10 coach.
If Harbaugh leaves, I hope he ends up with the 49ers. Â I hope Jed York has him on speed dial and is sending him flowers and candy regularly. Â That\'s where the big challenge, the big respect and the big money is.

Wow!
The team is 11-1 with most wins in a season in school history... most likely headed to a BCS bowl. We have a legitimate Voldemort contender for the second year in a row and a likely #1 draft pick. We have a real defense for the first time in a long time that\'s shut out 3 conference foes.
Despite all that, the most active thread on the entire first page of the forum is built on the assumption the coach is leaving... Â :-[

good point. low expectations / priorities in check at stanford might be a plus. people aren\'t hating on you if you win less than 10 games. nobody shits on the coach much in the worst of years.
