http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/ takes you to the website that represents all 10 campuses of the UC system.

Therefore, the University of California, Berkeley is the school formerly known as the University of California.

Quod Erat Demonstrandum!

Thanks. I thought there was probably some good reason you said that, but I couldn't resist the Kabam University joke.

Yvonne...

A quick review of UC's performance to date reveals wins over the slugs of college football and losses against the mediocre/good teams.  Stanford qualifies as a good team.

Also, I am a great believer in matchups.  Offensively, UC does not match up well v. Stanford.  LSJU strength is UC's weakness - along the lines.  I don't see UC generating a rushing attack and without that, the passing attack will be slowed.  Look for a number of sacks by the LSJU D.

On the other side of the ball, UC's DL is probably the worst in all of college football.  They will generate no pass rush and Hogan will sit back and play pitch and catch with Cajuste (sp?).

I hope I'm wrong but I think it will be another year before the worm turns.  2015 looks very promising for UC.....

Funny, a quick review of Stanford's performance to date reveals the same thing; wins over army, Davis, Washington, Washington state, and Oregon state (all but one at home), and losses to decent to good teams (USC, Notre Dame, ASU, Oregon, and Utah).  The question is whether Cal is closer to Utah or closer to Washington in terms of quality.

Well, since Washington clobbered them I think we have an answer to that. They also eked out a win against WSU. I think Cal is closer to the bottom than their record indicates, and we're closer to the top. We're favored by a TD for a reason.

Don't fall for the fallacy of the transitive property in college football, even considering the Bears' performances against Arizona, UCLA, and Oregon, which were all pretty good. I do think Cal is not good, so mediocre Stanford should beat them.  We'll see.

And I hereby profusely apologize for bitching in real time about the 13 points Stanford gave up to Cal last year, particularly the first touchdown. Should have known that was a one-off beatdown not to be repeated annually.

This site comes up with:

UCB beat Northwestern
Nortwestern beat UDFG
UDFG  beat Stanford

and

Stanford beat Washington
Washington beat UCB

In another comparison, Stanford lost to Oregon by more than UCB but beat Washington State by more than UCB.  Of course  Washington State lost to Oregon by less than Stanford.

Just for fun, try UCD over Stanford.

Worst case scenario:  The two teams battle to a 0-0 tie, and one wins with a FG in OT...

But I'll go with Nerds 17, Berserklers 13

I gave you +1 for the Kabam University comeback. Wish I had thought of it.

Div I - FBS Stanford beat Washington St 34 - 17
Div I - FBS Washington St beat Utah 28 - 27
Div I - FBS Utah beat Stanford 20 - 17

Therefore, Stanford is better than Stanford in 2014
as shown in 3 rounds by a combined score of 82 - 61.
