No chance....according to some knowledgeable posters on another site. They say he was asked to do the academic work and didn't.

Originally, there were supposed to be 13 commits on campus. Now 12. I have not seen any sign of Scarlett. He used his official in October so there is a perfectly reasonable explanation. Still, i would like to hear that he was admitted.

One of the two reports is inaccurate:

I'd believe the OC Varsity report, but there's definitely something odd there. Why wouldn't he visit before signing day if he's considering Stanford? Makes no sense.

After reading the OC Register article I'm encouraged that St. Brown has, apparently, been admitted, but also a bit put off by his self-evaluation about lack of focus and the need to improve his work-ethic. The first person who came to mind was Jamal Rashard Patterson, another extremely talented WR who never fulfilled his potential. Of course I would still love a signing day surprise of St. Brown choosing Stanford, but it will be interesting to see, wherever he ends up, if he fulfills his potential.

What I don't understand is why he'd go to the effort of applying if he didn't want to come to Stanford.

He's just trying to hype up his signing day announcement. Even his dad was rocking Stanford gear at the all star game he played in a few weeks ago. He's a silent commit to Notre Dame. He'd rather go to Stanford but he didn't take AP classes his senior year. He was originally going to pick USC or UCLA but they stopped recruiting him. He was scrambling last second and reached out to Stanford. With that not being an option he went with Notre Dame. The only other school really after him was Utah.

It's ok. I hope his two younger brothers start putting in the work to gain admission. They both are great players for their age.

Couple of adds: Quenton Meeks and Reagan Williams have both been admitted. Meeks happened this weekend, Williams was on 11/14.

these are all great pieces of news, but Meeks has me especially excited. Excellent athlete with good size to match up with big receivers. Can come into this class with, hopefully, Buncom, Edwards, and Reid. What a great class to begin work with Akina. Added on top of last year's class (again, assuming that these four choose Stanford) should allow us to continue to math up well with the spread offenses that dominate the Pac-12.

Usually that hasn't been the problem - really Stanford's thing.

As usual, there is no one school that is poised as Stanford's main rival on the recruiting trail. The biggest obstacle is the admissions office. Assuming good admissions news from here on out, there isn't a single one of the 14 commits, 9 known offerees, or 2 walk on candidates who I'd predict to land elsewhere. Except for Hoge, I don't know of any of other high-priority recruits who likely would have gained admission to Stanford and still chose to go elsewhere. Some guys, like St. Brown and Wimbush, chose not to take the APs, so maybe they should count as choosing to go elsewhere, but I don't see how they are different from smart kids who choose not to do enough work to get good grades. Stanford recruits kids with a mix of IQ and motivation to stretch themselves academically, and those guys missed out on half of the equation. The caveat is that we don't know enough about the academic profile of some recruits, like Wilkins, Williams, Petite, Town, and Stump. If they would have qualified for admission, that changes my analysis.

Stanford better figure out how to play defense without DL depth. Drukarev hits Stanford fans in the gut with "Bad news re: Ross Donnelly."

Wow! He was tweeting more than anybody outside of the Wilson family. Does admissions use a metric so that players most interested in Stanford are least likely to be accepted?

Earlier Hulk mentioned there were concerns about one of the official visitors on the Big Weekend. I wonder if Donnelly was the one?
So our NT depth looks like: Shittu, Phillips, Lohn(?), Callahan?, Annan? (Assuming he signs) Anthony Hayes originally signed as a DT in the same class as Lance Callahan, maybe try moving him back? I feel ok about the first two, given Phillips' spot duty last year. But after that, lots of question marks.

Yazdi could go on scholarship for his 5th year. He was ahead of Hayes and Callahan on the depth chart.
