Is this the first time a Dawkins team has been ranked? Nothing previous is coming to mind.

I just flipped through the rankings from that year, and we got votes but never made the top 25.

I agree with Garvin about Rosco and Marcus Allen. I know that many here are loathe to look ahead even to next season, but 2016-2017 is shaping up to be
very promising.
seniors - Rosco Allen, Marcus Allen
juniors - Reid Travis, Robert Cartwright, Michael Humphrey, Dorian Pickens
sophomores - Marcus Sheffield, Cameron Walker, Josh Sharma

What's strange is that after the Sweet 16 season of 2007-2008, the preseason ranking was the equivalent of #50, with just two votes. Those two votes disappeared until the seventh poll when Stanford was 7-0 and they received eight votes, the rough ranking equivalent of a tie for #37 (with FSU). The next week, Stanford beat Santa Clara by a little (77-69) and Texas Tech by a lot (111-66) to a 9-0 record and the equivalent of a #33 ranking on 12/30...the day Stanford won its 10th game in a row, over Hartford by a score of 69-55. The next week, Stanford beat Arizona by 16 but was slaughtered by Arizona State 90-60. With an 11-1 record, Stanford received no AP votes, and would not receive votes for the rest of the year.

Last time Stanford was ranked in either poll was 2008 - before Dawkins.

I didn't realize we played Arizona first. I remember listening to that ASU game on XM Radio and wondering what happened to the team that clobbered Texas Tech. (Which, it turned out, was not nearly as good as we thought.)

Then 4-10 over the next 14.
