sorry, can't resist sharing another subversive ditty.  on the upside classic GoSportsGo is neither team nor school colors specific.

you dint hear it here but might also takaway a self-conscious chuckle at their catholic upbringing inspired saucy youtubey "the loophole" <== Not Safe For Work!

trivial pursuit [garvin ineligible due to his unmatched knowledge of all things musical]: the partners named their group after the lessor member of other famous duets: not simon but Garfunkel, and not hall but Oakes.  Oakes was a good sport with the choice. he graciously appeared in a cameo, credibly portraying a porn shop operator in one of their ifc (hbo?) series episodes.

anyways, G&O are Generation X liberated ladies with a background in standup clubs, fresh off of minor cable series fame.  viewing options includes 720P.

Did not expect to like this, but was pleasantly surprised. Miley did good. Biggest problem with this version here is a severe lack of Steve Gadd. Pathetic substitute.

Any roots music fans among the Cardboarders?  I am really digging the debut album by Elle King, Ex's and Oh's.  Rootsy, rockin fun.  Hints of Black Keys, Amy Winehouse, Otis Redding.  The NYT is streaming her album for free on their Press Play service - http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/arts/music/pressplay.html

I am also very excited for the 2nd album by JD McPherson called Let The Good Times Roll. another roots rocker with kind of a retro but fresh sound.  He is from Oklahoma.  This is the title song.

Agree BC, great theme song and great series! I got hooked straight off and "binge watched" all 10 episodes over a 24 hour period! I'm assuming there will be a season #2...hope I'm right on that...and, if so, can't wait!

Back to (Harry Bosch) music, do you (or anyone else) have a suggestion re: an album that represents the best of Art Pepper? Or a list of songs that I could pull together into a song list? I like Bosch's taste in music...smooth stuff! Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I'm not a binge watcher, so I've only made it through half.  But I definitely look forward to having time to watch.

I don't know about season 2, but I get the sense that it has been a success, and it certainly lends itself to multiple seasons.  So I expect it will get renewed.  It's very well-rated on Amazon.

As for a soundtrack, you might look and see if anyone has come up with one on spotify.

In one of the photos, he's wearing a photo that says "Knights of Shame, AWOLNATION".  Out of curiosity I looked it up and turns out it's a band from a genre I like.  Just requested it from the library, and will report back if it's any good.

Everybody wants to rule the world - BostonCard - 06-22-2015

So I was at my daughter's dance recital on Friday, and I heard (not on one of her numbers) an impressive remake of the old Tears for Fears Song.  Listening to it, I thought, "this artist singer a hell of a lot like Lorde".  Sure enough, she adapted the song for the soundtrack of one of the Hunger Games movies (never watched them, so I wasn't aware of it).  It was also used in the trailer for one of the Assassin's Creed games:

Honestly, I like the remake better than the original.  Lorde's singing is awesome, and it hits a much darker, more somber note that fits better with the lyrics than the 85 original.
