Rotating QBs didnt resolve much. Love wins it.Â
Kanell says Love should be Voldemort front runner.Â
But he plays after Midnight.Â

I've had to mute these FS1 announcers because they are so pro-Utah...annoying.
They are pushing Love for H-award. So, at least there is that.

This is Fox, though. ESPN will anoint someone else soon, or may stick with hyping Barkley if he has a big game next week.

It's a win, on the road, against a ranked team. One that we have struggled with in the past.
Some people like to be miserable, I guess.

I don't know, Danny Kanell just raved about Stanford's schedule. Call me crazy, he's not that bad. Not to speak about the other two.

Onside kick recovered. We can all relax....... until next Saturday night.

We just beat an undefeated, top 25 ranked team. That's good.
We had 9 penalties for 84 yards. That's not good.

Wasn't pretty but I'll take it.
If you had just read some of the posts here you would have thought we lost by three touchdowns.

At a work conference on east coast and just finished up the game. Back up in 5 hours, yuck
Glad we pulled it out but much closer at the end than it should have been
Re: Stanford v. Utah live thread - ChicagoCard - 10-07-2017
Not that it matters, but there was some shady blocking by the Utah tackle on Tyler on the same play that ended in targeting by Kalambayi.
QB situation is bothering me. Just don't have faith in Chryst's pocket presence or accuracy.

BC, you're a smart guy.
The question is not whose offense is "better?"
Â
Stanford's O should be better given the talent differential . . . and it shouldn't be close. But when you give away plays and surrender possessions, you equalize what should not be equal. Stanford should have a "close to unstoppable" offense with a good OL and a once-a-generation talent in Bryce Love. But they do not.
I just wish the Cardinal O would have the same mind set that basketball teams do in March Madness: every possession is valuable/important. You should maximize your chance at scoring every time (unless burning clock late is a good result in and of itself).
Having complained to high heaven about the O (to everyone's fatigue), I will say this: "beating the Utes in SLC is no easy feat and the team and coaches should feel good about that. If not for the two ejections, I'd say the D played very well.
On to Oregon. Hope they are as undermanned as Stanford will be next Saturday.

Great to get the win, and it's nice that both QBs looked pretty good. The targeting nonsense was a sour note, but I want to remember a win against a ranked team and Love breaking another big one, not the negative stuff.

Winning a road game against a ranked team is good, but at a serious cost...
Now what happens with the QB?

I think those guys see the potential of the team and don't think we are playing as well as we could. Everyone has a different approach to dealing with frustration. If your benchmark is getting the win, it's hard to hear all of the complaining when you win.

Good win. Tough place to play, against a physical team. I thought Stanford was mentally tough throughout, notwithstanding the regrettable targeting penalties. I thought the defense played well, acknowledging that it is difficult to judge the quality of Utah's offense.
On the subject of the debate about the offense -- appropriately conservative and generally good performance, on the one hand versus insufficiently creative and risk-taking, I fall into the latter camp. I think the offense would be better if Shaw loosened to reins and used the whole array of options he has. And you won't hear me protest if the wildcat is mothballed forever. I hate everything about the wildcat.
Under Shaw, Stanford wins ugly. I'll take the wins, of course, but I can't help but feel his approach needs some modification, even as he is, or soon will be, the most successful coach in Stanford history. I'm a big fan of much of what he does, but on game day he often leaves me frustrated.

Well, A) it was kind of true and B) that's standard TV announcing when you have a game that looks like it has been put away. Nobody's going to say "Stanford has this in the bag, everyone can switch off their sets now"
The announcers were fine, other than saying that our next game was against USC.
