Speights tackled by the turf monster. Low throw caught for just under a first down. False start hurrying to get the play off, requiring our last timeout. QB can't find any target to throw to, runs out the clock with a run. Ugh.

Some empty calorie yardage in there, but the 184 yards in the first half exceeds the full-game totals of three UW opponents already. They're a very tough defense, as we know. Stanford's 6.5 yards per play is pretty good production irrespective of opponent, of course; UW hasn't allowed more than 4.67 ypp in a full game so far this year.
Of course, the offense overall has slipped up in otherwise makeable plays (three drops, Speights slipping), so this isn't merely Bryce Love being superhuman.

Own 25. 45 second and one TO. Odds pretty low. If Speights doesnt fall down they may have picked up 15 or so on that play. Once he did -just get to the half.

UW knows how to defend the fade. The safety covered a lot of ground, and we are lucky it wasnt intercepted.

The jumpball. Ironically, the outside corner fade would have worked there, though hard to execute from that far out.

Surprised the Washington front seven isn't doing much of what Wazzu did. Not sure that will stay true.
Stanford is in this game because the offense has avoided negative plays and there have been a few damn near spectacular individual efforts. Can the defense hold Washington to fewer points in the second half than in the first? If so, then yes, this game is winnable.

If Stanford can run the ball in the second half with Speights, we have a good chance.

Or better yet pump fake to outside draw the safety and hit the guy running the post. TE. Not sure which one. Thought he had inside position

I'm not at all confident that'll happen.
Costello needs to win this game, if it can be won at all.

Me neither, but 14-10 at the half is not a bad place to be considering. Would have been nice to get a TD there. But UW defense is the real deal. Our offense hasnt sucked and yet has struggled to move the ball. We have 8 first downs and 6 were earned on a third down, many on third and long, and one on a fourth down. That is a tough way to move the ball.
