Re: Dalton Schultz - Bruce Wang - 08-24-2013

Just read Dalton carries a 3.9 GPA so he is a high probability admit.  Not committing must mean he's seriously considering other schools.

Re: Class of 2014 - Griffins78 - 08-24-2013

Interesting quote about Hood and why he decommitted from ND.

Quote:After taking several visits to Notre Dame earlier in the year, a July visit didn’t go so well, Hood’s father, Vee Hood, said.

“Something happened the last time he went up there that he didn’t like,” Vee Hood said. “Something changed his mind immediately. He was scared to tell us. I said there’s no need to be scared. It’s his decision. I told him, ‘You’ve got to be happy wherever you choose to go.’ I know he’s not going to be going to Notre Dame, and I guess that means he’s open to (all colleges) again.”

Re: Class of 2014 - AthleticsDynasty - 08-24-2013

SO hopefully it has nothing to do with distance from home and he'll look at Stanford.

Perhaps this Mike Eubanks tweet was about him: "Love rule allowing recruits & parents to talk w/ our players' parents on campus. It's responsible...and made us stronger today! #cardclass14"

FWIW most of the recruiting pundits think he will choose Stanford. From what I've seen they have been pretty accurate so far this year.
I do think you are right in that he is not 100% sold on Stanford at this point; hopefully he will be in time.

P.S. That would be something if the NCAA passed a rule that prohibited players parents from talking to recruits parents. Knowing the NCAA though, I can't say it would shock me.

The unofficial Stanford football twitter account created a playlist of highlights from McCaffrey's game: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL0jmLfdPYGHOrru83XRmmQYXcnkMa2M32

I'll take Chubb.  I wish we would have offered him earlier than we did.

Re: Class of 2014 - JohnR34231 - 08-27-2013

Not sure McCaffery is an every down running back in college. If he isn't this may be two classes in a row when we haven't got one.

Re: Class of 2014 - yvonne - 08-27-2013

Looks like we're going for a different kind of back in this class. Isaiah Brandt-Simms is a track guy who'll be used on offense.

Re: Class of 2014 - StannyBoy - 08-27-2013

Jabrill Peppers made the SC Top 10 tonight with this run. I really think Michigan will consider playing him at RB.

Re: Class of 2014 - JohnR34231 - 08-28-2013

Not to diminish his effort, but the more high school highlights I see the more I am convinced tackling is a lost art in high school.

Did we ever get a consensus on why he didn't more seriously consider Stanford? Grades, distance from home, or something else?

1. Its a Highlight of a RB its kind of silly to expect good tackling
2. I think grades, supposedly he tweeted after taking the SATs insinuating he didn't think he did good.

Poor tackling by a few, perhaps. But the entire defense? Well, maybe.

It wouldn't be a highlight if the RB got tackled

I don't know about that.  I'd be much more impressed by a 20-yard run against a great run defense than I would be by a 99-yard touchdown against a bunch of guys who have no idea how to tackle.  And I would think any good college coach would see it the same way.

So you would be more impressed by perfect blocking and no broken tackles?

I'm impressed by broken tackles against players who tackle well.  I'm not impressed by broken tackles against players who have no idea how to tackle.

Re: Class of 2014 - stanfan - 08-28-2013

It was a terrific run showing great power and balance.  Wish he was going to play for us, but we'll be great without him.  Good luck to him at Michigan.

Hood committed to UNC today. So it appears distance was very likely a factor.

No one tackles well in a highlight.
