As much as Wilner seems to sometimes revel in being the anti-homer, he really has had an anti-UW thing this year. It seems utterly unconnected to watching them play. The UW offense has struggled a bit but their defense has been good all year despite a ton of youth. Given what I expected preseason, UW has been a notable upside surprise so far.
Wilner also seems overly down on the Beavs, but that is pretty much just a 10, 11, or 12 kind of question.

Lots of dangerous teams in the Pac. I agree that coaching made a difference in SC-UW, but UW also has plenty of talent on defense to beat some more-than-decent teams. Do I think they'll win over Oregon? I'm going to say....probably not.
I do think Sark is gone after this year, but we'll see.

If I'm an SC fan, I'm actually pretty happy about the direction of the season. There's little debate now: Sark doesn't know what he's doing. My sole worry is whether the administration is ready and able to change direction. The big worry for Stanford fans is that somehow SC ends up with Chip Kelly.

SC fans should have been worried the day UW fans were cheering for the upgrade they got at coaching when they "lost" Sark and gained CP.

I don't think Sark is as bad a coach as some do, but I doubt if he is going to get U$C into the college football playoffs. So if that's their goal (and I'm sure it is) maybe they should cut their losses.

Based on what I've been hearing from Eagles fans it's really unlikely that Chip gets fired this year, the owner is too patient (he did put up with Reid for quite a while). So that would mean another year of Sark for this to happen.

I think the $C folks are fantasizing that Kelly would willingly, eagerly leave the Eagles for their team.

So does anyone know how many years Sark has on his contract? I'm guessing it was three years, with some bonuses and penalties for early release/termination.  Poor Haden, he really has been in over his head down in South Central. He's just as poor as his predecessor.  At what point does their new president step up/in to make some changes? Or maybe he just asks them both to pass the Cutty Sark.Â

Sarkisians contract with USC spans five years, according to Los Angeles Daily News Scott Wolf.

Is Kelly's seat really that hot? He's started poorly this year, but they had back to back 10 win seasons. It's not like they were terrible terrible. I guess I don't pay much attention to the coaching situation of teams other than the Niners.

Again, what I've been hearing it's not hot at all. His offseason moves don't look great, but it's still kind of crazy to judge a new GM off of 1/4 of one season. If they go 0-12 from here on out, yeah maybe he gets fired. But they'll probably at least be 8-8 and in the playoff hunt in December, in which case it's really hard to imagine him leaving, either voluntarily or involuntarily.

SC fans played this dream coach game just two years ago. If one named a big NFL or NCAA coach, then that big name coach was apparently ready to fly to LAX later that day to join SC.
The reality is that Hollywood is not as dreamy as it appears in the movies, and USC football is not as dreamy as it was in the 1970s.Â
Almost every SEC program can compete dollar for dollar with SC on head coach salary. Additionally, those SEC coaches can pitch all kinds of products and services to the citizens of those states making even more money. The Big 12 and BigTen each have programs that can pay big money too.
Dozens of programs have better facilities.
And few programs require their staffs to endure LA style commutes. The areas around USC are not exactly dreamy for the families of the football coaching staff.
USC is a good job, but there are better opportunities for elite coaches.

To add injury to the insult, Claude Pelon, Iman Marshall, Steven Mitchell and Max Tuerk all suffered what Sark said are "significant" injuries in the game.

I will always appreciate what he did for Stanford by committing a dumb penalty that sent USC back 15 yards and led to a Trojan punt. Sad to hear he will not be able to help us out agaib.

I guess it ought to be called this week in opponents' opponents, but in any case it is worth noting that Texas is up 17-10 on previously undefeated Oklahoma.
And in unrelated Big-12 news, Baylor was up 52-7 on Kansas, at the half!
