I have a feeling that this thread is guaranteeing a longer life for this particular autocorrect.
I like the autocorrects. Especially seeing the confusion of new posters when their sentences are mangled.

Confusion -- As in, "How could the alumni of such a prestigious university engage in such a childish, absurd, and annoying behavior?"
I wonder how many former players and fans with intimate knowledge of Stanford athletics were turned off by autocorrection and never returned?
I wonder how recruits and parents of recruits react when they read autocorrected posts?

Ask yourself: Who is "Jim" around here? Playing

Yup. We've probably lost at least a few dozen 4- and 5-star recruits because they saw an autocorrect on the Cardboard and couldn't 59er it.

But if we lose/alienate a poster with the auto-corrects, don't we gain three for every martyup visual? I swear, coming here post-game to read the "Live Game Thread Against [Insert Stanford Opponent]" was . . . well . . . brobdingnagian!
Martyup's giffs (or whatever they're called) were Internet Gold!

We aren't going to lose people over auto-corrects.
If you haven't visited other school sites, you wouldn't believe what gets said about recruits and their families.
I like the auto-corrects in that they seem to drive away trolls.

Help me understand. How are trolls sent adrift by auto-corrections?

When your post is likely to wind up insulting your own team, it takes away some of the urge to blather on.
Maybe there is some other reason for it, but I left another fan site because I was tired of every 3rd post was some sort of unintelligible diatribe from an opposing fan base.

I just roll my eyes, smile and continue on.
The Cardboard has its own personality and quirkiness but that's not a problem for me as long as it comes with literate fan posts and a generally friendly attitude. My enjoyment of Stanford sports is greatly enhanced by this board and I LIKE that it has personality and a recognizable style.Â
Personal attacks/aggressive posts are rare here and that gets a big thumbs up from me. Student-athletes who stumble are treated respectfully and I like that too. Respectful treatment of student athletes is the biggest reason I cringe when every decommit is labelled as a Montag casualty even when it is likely to be true.
I hope we continue to police ourselves when we go off track - like when our frosh PK misses a critical bowl game kick, a young adult stumbles with alcohol or the team fails against the first opponent of the year. Not that any of those would ever happen here, right?
If someone gets annoyed at our occassional auto correct they can just compare with the style at, say, Shaggy Bevo and make their own choices. I doubt we lose in a friendliness comparison to any fan board and certainly not any of the ones I've browsed.

I don't know about you guys but my screen shows two quotation marks (" ") where the autocorrected award name used to be. No one has mentioned it. I guess I'm about to find out what happens when I type the award name: Voldemort

Seems it is now the award whose name shall not -- verily,
can not -- be mentioned. 8)

I like the new "blank" Trophy Award change. (And not just because I'm afraid of the machine . . . and Garvin . . . and Yvonne.) Cardboarders are free to fill in whatever auto-correct they choose. Let the free market determine the best thing to call it, other than "blank" Trophy. I think Anybody But Stanford is the Capitol [sic] One Cup, so I'm going with Stiff Arm To Stanford Trophy.Â
Cheers,
Pete F.Â

I don't know what any of you are talking about and feel much the better for it.
Although I do want to add that the auto-correct function is stupid and it makes me want to say *****, cunt, prick and asshole.

Well, I see it doesn't work for at least one word that I never vocalize.

How about we just start calling it the Voldemort Award? :)

That particular cat is the single most vocal poster on Kal's Scout board today. Had a brief stay on ours before he overran his schmuck quota and got the boot (no pun intended).
