What a country, right?Â
Oh, keep in mind, the official standings haven't been updated yet. It might be worth taking a screenshot when they are. Or maybe just send the link to Mike Eubanks or something :P

This is clearly the new internet black hole for my next sleepless night. The excel spreadsheet showing the standings hooked me.

I'm still trying to digest the fact that they have two players on their defense with the names of Studstill and Tranquill. CI, there has to be some Irish humor in that.

Seems likely that Butler too would be off the team; hard to imagine that a battery charge against a public safety officer would fall within the realm of a grey area.

Well, that assumes that the police report reflecting the battery is an objective recounting of what transpired.Â
As a general rule, I do not put too much stock in police reports of incidents (or more accurately, I rarely view them as reflecting the whole story of what transpired).

I know a former district attorney who says much the same. Police reports can be very unreliable.

Well, given that he was charged with two fellonies, it sounds like the particular district attorney in South Bend apparently found the police credible, or at least, credible enough to bring charges.

I have a cantankerous cousin who is a criminal defense attorney and feels the same way, to the extreme. He told me that he knows prior to the trial whether or not he'll win. His determining factor is the number of police officers who testify. If it's one, he'll lose. If it's two, he wins a high percentage of the time, because one wrote the police report, and the other will contradict him.

If you are referring to the Freddy Gray case, I am pretty sure that charges were filed despite the police report, not because of it.
