First off, I'd say we already have three quality wins.

Secondly, I'd say we have a chance to get a quality win versus the #10 team in the country this Friday.

I think the old like system helped to encourage social norms on this board...

That was the purpose. The thumbs down number helped me gauge when to close a conversation or even ban a member. I have nothing these days, and the SMF community isn't very close to making something that will give the same functionality.

I was hoping last night's upgrade would restore the voting system.  Sure it encourages an echo chamber, but this is all in fun and I just want to hear variations on how awesome Stanford is.  I think +/- system would have prevented ferrari from crashing and burning.  He would have realized earlier that he was annoying many people.

I'm curious, Yvonne.  Now that you've declared your support of the voting system.  There must be a good reason we can't go back to the old version of the software.  Is it because only the current version gets support?  And I wonder why the SMF community hasn't jumped on restoring that functionality.

Re: Week 5 Polls - BostonCard - 09-27-2016

I liked the idea of voting on posts rather than people better.  Good people sometimes make bonehead posts.  Now, if someone makes a bad post, you are judging the person, rather than their idea.  It makes something that shouldn't be personal, into an indictment of the person themselves.

There are correct ideas and incorrect ideas.  There are acceptable ways of saying things and unacceptable ways of saying things.  Shouldn't be too hard to stay away from anything incorrect or unacceptable.
