Have you ever seen a fanbase defend opponents as much as they defend players on their own team? Do you understand what being a fan is about?

Which Stanford player are you accusing of being a persistent head hunter?

I don't remember too many Stanford players making illegal hits.  There was this Shayne Skov hit on Jared Goff in the helmet area a couple years ago, but I don't think he was concussed.  Nevertheless, given today's rules, and what we are advocating against, it should have been flagged.

The hit by Skov has come up w/ my friends almost every time I have expressed my disgust w/ the hit on Owusu.  Most of them are not even Cal supporters.  That hit by Skov was several years ago, but people remember it.

I don't think the poster's question says anything specific about repeat offenses and that is an aspect w/ Goodman that shows a very ugly side of football.  He has been shown to be a vicious player intent on doing serious damage to other players.  Skov had that one outlier on Goff, but the rest of his career demonstrated that the Goff hit was an exception and that Skov was not a dirty player.

To be completely honest, I don't think John Lynch's style of play would have been conducive to the current climate. Many of his hits in college and the pros could be construed as targeting.

Take off the rose colored glasses that have been stained brown.  Our players are not infallible when it comes to vicious hits either (even non-helmet to helmet ones).  Do you remember how much the team celebrated when we pretty much separated Conor Halliday's shoulder a few years back?  The Goodman hit was illegal - Shaw has already reached out to the office.  There's no point in bantering about it continuously anymore.  It already has national coverage with disdain.  Move on. Or is that not a concept you can comprehend?

So I guess I should take that as a "no", you don't know what is involved in being a fan?

This is the week after the game, I think it's fair to lament the hit for a few days, especially in the light of the news he'll miss our upcoming match against a Pac12 North rival and in light of the additional communications from the Pac12 that folks posted here. If you don't like discussing the good, the bad, and the ugly of Stanford sports, perhaps you're in the wrong place.
