It's always one play.  Thirty two years ago, I remember watching a high school football game, and a WR dropped what would have been the game-winning TD in the second quarter.  it led to their only loss, by two points.  I saw that WR last week...for him, the drop is as fresh as if it had happened yesterday.

Mistakes can haunt us and also motivate us.

Well the CFB has kept us at #24. But with WSU at 23 and Utah at 22 we have a road to move ahead of them next week in CFB rankings if they lose.

Which may be another argument for our Holiday bowl bid :)

Yeah, that fumble was painful but we were lucky to only be down 7-3 at that point in the game. Colorado missed 3 easy field goals (42, 28 and 31 yards). Colorado deserved to win that game.

I'm thinking that's either 9-2 Nebraska or 9-2 Penn State at this point.  The two teams didn't play each other this year, and Wisconsin will lose to either Ohio State or Michigan in the championship game.  I'd rather play Nebraska who barely lost to Oregon than Penn State who barely lost to Ohio State

I dimly remember a dropped pass against WSU in 2001 that put Stanford in the Seattle Bowl rather than a much-more-interesting destination. I more vividly remember the dumpster fire that happened in Seattle and afterward...

and for six years after that

The Holiday Bowl is one of two "Tier One" bowls for the Big Ten. It seems that the bowls send their preference for teams to the conference which chooses the participants. Presumably the two Tier One bowls will have the top two teams not in the New Years 6 group. The caveat is no repeat teams, and at least five different teams over the seven year span 2014-19. So Wisconsin is out and Nebraska less likely.

... and Nebraska beat Oregon.

I believe that the kids will want to face the highest ranked team possible.

Ohio state can't be in the Big ten Title Game unless Penn State loses to Michigan State since they beat Ohio State
