Re: Stanford - Rice game thread - DC 86 - 08-26-2017

Exciting to see Parkinson, Smith, Wedington and Harrington all involved early.

Re: Stanford - Rice game thread - stupac2 - 08-26-2017

All 4 TEs have a catch now!

Re: Stanford - Rice game thread - stupac2 - 08-26-2017

WE'RE DONE MEN, WE'RE DONE.

Re: Stanford - Rice game thread - BostonCard - 08-26-2017

Bryce Love is on fire.  6 touches, 111 yards, 1 TD.  Still in the first quarter.

Three possessions, three touchdowns.

Re: Stanford - Rice game thread - Mick - 08-26-2017

Love is scary fast.  SCARY.  Great balance, great speed.  And candidly, the run blocking has been excellent.

Re: Stanford - Rice game thread - GoodGrief - 08-26-2017

This is ridiculous.

Re: Stanford - Rice game thread - stupac2 - 08-26-2017

I think my grandma could've punched that one in. What a brobdingnagian hole.

If you're thinking of the same play,  he sent his guy deep and Keller stepped up into a clean pocket. But it did look scary for a moment.

Kick OOB.  :(

Maybe Lund too?  I'll check again next commercial break

Re: Stanford - Rice game thread -- Shaw using as a Pre-Season scrimmage - ADPATERSON - 08-26-2017

This is a shakeout cruise for Shaw & Co to align which combos of players on both sides work best.
Like lines in Hockey.
Wedington in the mix looks like the Bryce Love alternative to McCaff, with Love in McCaff's shoes now.

But, Rice ain't much of a test for the O-Line or D-Line compared to what Troy will put up.

TE duo combos of Schultz, Parkinson, Harrington, and K.Smith are going to be powerful.
Lots of permutations.

Re: Stanford - Rice game thread - DC 86 - 08-26-2017

Obviously Love is very fast, but what is most impressive is how quickly he reaches his top gear. Others may have similar top end speed, but he gets to it in his first few steps.

Re: Stanford - Rice game thread - BostonCard - 08-26-2017

The good news for Rice is that on their third possession, they finally got a first down (two even!).  The bad news for them is that they turned it over on downs.

First quarter in the books... Stanford three possessions, three touchdowns.  Rice three possessions, nada.

Re: Stanford - Rice game thread -- will we see Costello or Burns? - ADPATERSON - 08-26-2017

Who comes in first behind Chryst:  Costello or Burns?  I say Shaw has seen Burns (Sun Bowl).
Let's give Costello a look in a no-risk environment.

Re: Stanford - Rice game thread - BostonCard - 08-26-2017

Bryce Love now has 142 yards on 7 carries.

And Scarlett takes it in from 29 yards for his second TD.

Stanford 28, Rice 0.

Starting to feel bad for the Owls.

Re: Stanford - Rice game thread - DC 86 - 08-26-2017

Finding faults amidst a rout, but Chryst needs to work on looking off his receivers, against a better defense this will be a problem.

Re: Stanford - Rice game thread -- Up 28 - 0, early 2Q - ADPATERSON - 08-26-2017

This is a rugby runaway... !

Agreed.  This is getting ugly. Hope Shaw empties his bench in 2nd half.

Re: Stanford - Rice game thread - Mick - 08-26-2017

I wonder what Clay Helton is thinking?  Is he feeling that first trickle of fear?

Re: Stanford - Rice game thread - BostonCard - 08-26-2017

Not sure the utility of punting here from Stanford territory.  But let's face it, Rice is way overmatched.  Still no evidence that they can stop us... or that they can score on us.
