Re: Stanford vs. SC Game Thread - BostonCard - 09-09-2017

We are getting picked apart by the SC offense.

Problem is Darnold looks quicker than our DL. Nothing getting home.

And the USC offensive line is blowing up our D.

USC's WR got away with a hold.

If Darnold has 4sec to throw, he can pick us apart all night.

Re: Stanford vs. SC Game Thread - BostonCard - 09-09-2017

Seems clear he is short.

Pitch was a good call.  Reid got burned inside.

Too easy again.

Well executed there. Our defense has been taken to the woodshed. Can Chryst win us a shootout?

Re: Stanford vs. SC Game Thread - TreesAndBirds - 09-09-2017

Offense needs to stay on the field awhile now. Give D time to rest/regroup.

Re: Stanford vs. SC Game Thread - stupac2 - 09-09-2017

The real problem here is that we're not stopping anything. I don't think USC has had a single unsuccessful play, except maybe the 2nd down stuff that ended up not mattering anyway. If that doesn't start changing, if we can't get them behind the chains at all, this is going to be rough.

Re: Stanford vs. SC Game Thread - amartinsu13 - 09-09-2017

Surprisingly they only have 51 yards rushing, 3.9 average.  It feels a lot worse than that.

Re: Stanford vs. SC Game Thread -- End of Q1. SC 14, STAN 7 - ADPATERSON - 09-09-2017

Simmons (#2) bit on the inside fake by Darnold, and Jones waltzes in off the pitch.
Rookie mistake goin for the fake.

At some point we will have to have some defensive steps.

Nice return by Scarlett.

Nice to see JjAW getting in on the action.

Re: Stanford vs. SC Game Thread - dabigv13 - 09-09-2017

I wonder why we have Scarlett and not Love returning kicks for us. Especially if Love is covering kicks after he runs 75 yards for a TD.

Nice pass and catch there btw.

Re: Stanford vs. SC Game Thread -- like last time in 2015 - ADPATERSON - 09-09-2017

SC went ahead in Q1 two years ago also, and the Hogan got us a TD to a TE with 11sec to go in 1H.  Up 24-21.

If this stays the same, we lose

Re: Stanford vs. SC Game Thread - BostonCard - 09-09-2017

Dunno, but Scarlett had a nice return.

I agree it would make sense to have Love returning.  I thought so even last year, as a way to giver McCaffrey some breaks.  But McCaffrey was just too good.
