I see Bryce Love rushing for 250 yards in this game, and Cameron Scarlett picking up 100 as well. Chryst shall be . . . efficient.

I've never felt so worried about our prospects in the Harbaugh-Shaw era. There have been years where we've had issues with the OL and years where we've had issues with the DL, but I can't remember a time when both have been as much of a problem as they are now.

On the positive side, Bryce Love is a joy to watch, we have some fantastic TEs, some good receivers and DBs that have shown they can make big time plays.

UCLA's terrible defence is arriving just in time for us to get our groove back. We come out fired up based on the fact that we've only played one conference game and that there is so much to still play for. Stanford 45, UCLA 38. Entered in the form.

Stoppable force (our offense) meets movable object (UCLA's defense).  Which wins?  It's actually not a paradox but it resembles one.  Here's my guess...

City of Angels (aka, Movable Object) - 21
City of Angel Investors (aka, Stoppable Force) - 28

Re: UCLA predictions - pefloresjr - 09-21-2017

Voting with my heart as usual.  In overtime,
Stanford - 38
Ruins - 31

Cheers,

Well, we scored 24 against U$C's defense, which I think is considerably better than UCLA's so I think we could possibly get more than that on Saturday. Assuming, of course, Chryst doesn't have the kind of day he had against SDSU. I agree that if we do win, it will be something like 34-31.

Re: UCLA predictions - Trevmiesterj - 09-22-2017

As the "University of Stanford" was a horrible off target attempt to colorize my original post I attempted to follow with a light hearted "Go Cardinals" to lighten the previous error and sway attention.  My try was unsuccessful, and in retrospect, weak sauce.

It should be noted that my prediction of Stanford; officially Leland Stanford Junior University (colloquially the Farm), a private research university in Stanford, California, adjacent to Palo Alto and between San Jose and San Francisco (as taken from Wikipedia) being trounced by the Bruins, which incidentally, is Dutch for the color brown, had, at the time, been influenced by the previous game, which quite frankly, stunk.

On the bright side:
We are playing at home.
The weather should be beautiful (clear, mid-70s)
The BAND should be there!
We should be able to run well against the 'ruins.

Over

Bruins

55-34

I have a hunch that we are going to see Wedington on a jet sweep.  In fact, if the first try is successful, why not try it a few more times?  :D

I predict some alumni lubricated by beer.
(First I've heard of this--for tomorrow and for Big Game.)

As psyched as I was for the season to start and see how all our pieces fit together, I fully expected growing pains and some struggle but nowhere like this. I envisioned this season as an extended training camp for our NC run in the 2018 season somewhere in the 9-3 range :) I think we will still get there. Its important for us to lose a few games so we can get the chip back on our collective shoulders and be the underdog world beaters! 8)

I am extremely gloomy now but no matter how bad it gets ... my heart will never let me pick against our beloved Cardinal. Genuinely afraid for the safety of our players - the more we beat down on the nasty Bruins the dirtier they play.

Cardinal 21
Bruins 13

D wins us the game with a pick 6

Do you know something we don't? Like maybe Josh Rosen has decided to sit this one out in protest over NCAA policies, or perhaps because he thinks it would be more fun to spend the weekend in the hot tub with one of his many coed admirers?
Anyway if we hold UCLA to 13 points I will be extremely (pleasantly of course) surprised. Of course, I would have said the same thing about the Ducks and Marcus Mariota in 2012.

Re: UCLA predictions - Hulk01 - 09-23-2017

Like Mariota in 2012, Rosen has not yet proven to be good third down quarterback.  On 3rd and four or more, Rosen has converted around 30% over his past two seasons.  Hogan converted at 38% his senior year, and Luck hit at over 47%.  Darnold is hoverng around 50%.

Chyrst?  Around 28%, iirc.

UCLA has scored 45, 56 and 48 this year; however, last year they were 4-8 and scored two touchdowns or less in four games, including a 22-13 loss to Stanford.  So, I suppose anything is possible.

Continuing to go with my heart,

Stanford 34
UCLA 28

Entered in form.

Geaux Cardinal!

Re: UCLA predictions - lex24 - 09-23-2017

38-17. UCLA. Why?  First, if you don't put pressure on Rosen, he will  kill you. Most accurate passer I've seen in a long time and he's got a gun. Second, UCLA showed signs of a running game last week. Third, Stanford falls behind couple touchdowns early they lose the ability to control the football and things snowball from there. Fourth,  O-line has been unable to consistently win at the the line scrimmage. Fifth, quarterback differential in this game is massive.

What I do hope I see is a gambling defense that blitzes take chances etc. If they sit back and just try to keep the receivers in front of them it will be a long freaking day defensively.

Offensively I want to see Costello. I may get my wish. But only if they are getting pounded. So I guess I don't want to see Costello.

Still picking the Card and believing they can pull it together after a wake-up call.  If they lose this week I'll tell my heart to shut up and let the adults make the next few picks...
