Wisconsin in same situation threw a TD with 6 seconds left. Of course they were down 17-0 and were were up by 4 which impacts decision.

It is 3, as Stanford will lead by a TD at half.
Yeah, that was incredibly boneheaded by Kelly (with an assist to UCLA’s special teams coverage). He could have had fourth and goal from the one foot line with 1 second on the clock, giving us no chance to score, yet we stole three points at the end. I think Shaw should have tried one more play into the end zone with six seconds left before attempting the FG.

Well, you sort of hope your defense/special teams are good enough to hold the opposition for 37 seconds.
Based on the way this game is going though, perhaps it looks doubtful that you can.

I agree, but why take the chance. UCLA had first and goal and Stanford had one time out, while UCLA held three. It’s one thing if you score “too quickly” on first down or second down after Stanford called time out. But after that Kelly had complete control of the clock. After the second down went nowhere, he could have run the clock down to 10 or so seconds, and then after the third down, he could have run it down to three or fewer, and he never would have had to sweat his special teams and defense. This was a 100% self-inflicted 3 point gift.

At least it makes up for the bad mistake from No.24 on the roughing the passer penalty on third and long, leading to 3.

During the 2nd down play, a player lost his helmet and the clock was stopped. UCLA called a timeout and the automatic 10-second runoff was negated. Not sure why they were in such a hurry to call a timeout.

It’s going to take 48 to win this game.

And now the feed from Pac-12 Network has gone haywire, at least in SD.

My guess is they wanted that guy on the field. Can only do that with a timeout

Yes, but you can let the play clock run down before you call the time out.

The call was a no brainer on fourth and four at the thirty seven. Too far for a fiel goal, too close for a punt and four yards is reasonably marketable.

Stanford blows two chances on third/fourth medium/long to get off the field. When you don't, that happens. Tied game.

The key was on second and 19. We could have stopped that run for a couple of yards; instead it went for 15 and gave UCLA a chance on third and fourth down. Given that Chip went deep on third down, I have to believe that he always intended to go for it on fourth down.

Hey, let's face it. We have a good passing attack, not much of a running attack, and at best a mediocre defense.
Not a good formula to beat decent teams.
We score again, nice.
We are going to have to keep doing it.
