Does anyone else feel that Belibi could score a lot more if she wanted to / had more confidence in her drive? There are many times in games when she has the ball at the elbow and the lane is pretty cleared out. All she has to do is make a rip move and one or two big steps and she has a layup. And she is so quick and strong and jumps so high that the poor defender guarding her wouldn't be able to do anything to stop it. Instead it seems like she is looking to pass to another player who is then supposed to initiate the offense. Sometimes the best offense is Belibi driving for a layup. Also note that I wish Dodson (when back healthy) would do this as well. However, I think Belibi has a better handle than Dodson for these kind of moves.

Yes, absolutely agree. Belibi has a turnover problem too, though. When Jones and Belibi perfect their handles on the ball, our offense could become unstoppable. Especially if Jump is lurking on the perimeter just in case the opponent sells out and clogs the paint to stop drives from Belibi and Jones.
And oh how I hope the Jones mid range jumper continues unabated. It will kills zones and sagging defenses and make teams vulnerable to everything else we can do.

I suspect Belibi learning systems, listening to coaches also as it seemed as though she were holding back deliberately last night from dunk opportunities- and I was wondering if that were at the direction of the coaching staff.

Anybody have a theory why Prechtel not playing much? Would have thought last night's game good opportunity

Found that puzzling. IIRC, she was doing well, got called for the bogus foul, got the hook, and never saw another minute.

They like her better when she can defend inside against more traditional posts. OSU likes to have their bigs outside a lot, have their players drive a lot, and so far that is not Prechtel's strength on defense. Seems just to be a function of how the opponent plays vs the strengths and (current, because working on it) weaknesses. Same for all the frosh, and since we are so deep, all the players. Match-ups matter a lot. I agree Prechtel has been quite good when given extended playing time.

Ohio St. is a very guard centric team. Which is a tough matchup for a big. With Nadia, Hailey and Fran able to matchup with what OSU had on the court at any given time, the need for a true big was reduced. Once Aaliyah Patty, at 6-3 and their most athletic forward picked her third foul, she was really no longer a factor. Reducing even more the need for Prechtel.

The refs missed some, but it was not as rough as some other games. With all the steals, you'd think there would have been more fouls called.
An interesting point was that, except for a questionable call with 30 seconds left in the game, we almost had no player end the game with more than one foul. I wonder if Stanford has ever come so close to that before.

And one more comment on the differences between Hatchell & Vanderveer: When Tara wasn't coaching for a year, she didn't take any credit for the wins of her team. I'm sorry for Hatchell's illness & am glad she won her most important battle that year, but I think she should not be credited for wins or losses when she (IIRC) wasn't present on the bench for any of the games that year.
By my reckoning, Hatchell should be credited with 996 wins and 395 losses (71.6%).
Vanderveer's record is 1076 wins and 247 losses (81.3%).
Otherwise, I had no issues with Hatchell in the games I saw her in. She seemed a good coach whose teams played well. I was surprised & saddened at how her career ended.

Speaking of former long-term coaches, when I looked at the
NCAA investigation & sanctions for the UCSB MWP team, I was quite surprised to see a familiar name on the committee that makes such decisions: Jody Conradt. 900-309 (74.4%)
